Akira's POV
The University had made the trip a trek and Eurorail in one. So half the days we would be camping and the other half just sight-seeing. When we got to the campsite the instructors showed us to our cabins and we got set up. I was starving so I unpacked as fast as I could.
"Let's go!" I pressed, my hand already on the door.
"You go, I'll come in a bit." Khushi laughed.
"Works for me." I answered and headed for the cafeteria.
I was passing by the other cabins when I saw Raj and some girl, she was pressed up against him and he had his hands on her shoulders. He looked up and our eyes met for a second and I quickly looked away.
Typical rich kid. I rolled my eyes and returned my focus to my hunger.
Raj's POV
"Taylor please get out of my way." I sighed. I hadn't thought she would come on this trip, especially because it included the trek.
"Raj! I missed you so much!" she cooed pushing herself closer to me.
Taylor and I had dated a while ago for less than a week, but she didn't seem to get the point of 'breaking-up'.
"Why did you leave Cambridge Raj? I never see you anymore!" she whined wrapping her arms around my neck.
I rolled my eyes and looked to the side where I saw her- Akira, standing. She saw me look at her and hurried away. Damn now she's gonna think I'm... I thought then paused, why am I thinking of what she will think...
I reached back and untangled myself from Taylor's arms. "Bye Taylor," I said, running after Akira. She shouted something at me but I didn't hear her.
Akira wasn't anywhere to be seen, so I headed to the cafeteria. As soon as I entered, my eyes searched for her, she was sitting at one of the far tables and our eyes met for only a second before she looked down again. I sighed and headed over to where Arnav was sitting.
Akira's POV
The next day we went kayaking in a nearby lake.
"Okay. So we will be dividing everyone into partners and you will stay in these pairs for all activities in the next two weeks and then we will switch, this way everyone will get to know new people." I groaned inwardly, I was always so shy in front of others.
The instructor started reading off the names and I waited for mine, it seemed like they were pairing them off boy-girl. No! Dang it! What do you even talk to a guy about?
"Khushi Gupta and Arnav Raizada" The instructor- Sam - called and Khushi walked from my side to Arnav's, who was sitting by Raj. Please, Babaji- anyone but him! I prayed looking at Raj.
"Akira Gill and" Please not Raj! "Rajveer Kapoor," he announced and I groaned. Why Babaji? Why? I didn't walk over to him though, I just stood there while the instructor rattled off the last few names.
"Okay, now the kayaks are set up so off you go."
I took a deep breath and walked towards the kayaks, he was already there, when he saw me he smiled and I gave him a half smile back. He got into the kayak and reached out a hand to help me, but I ignored it and tried to get in myself. I don't need his help.
Good thing I don't have to face him. I felt awkward when getting in because I could feel him staring, this made me lose my footing. I stumbled a bit but he caught my arm and steadied me, I jerked my arm away fast and mumbled thanks. No, no, no, this wasn't supposed to happen. Such a bewakoof ... could have just taken his hand in the first place.
