I wake up in a dark room and try to struggle out of the straps that were wrapped around me completely. I started to freak out. I feel a hand cover my mouth and wrap my mouth too. I started to have tears to the stench of the cloth and I see the man go to the other room and turn on the lights. We were in a huge warehouse and there was a wall covered in weapons, and the other an aiming target. I literally was about to die. This was it. I was done. Caught. Why can’t I just live a normal life? He came up to me and he had no shirt on and a belt with throwing knives in them. He untied me and grabbed me by the hoodie. He looked at me in the eyes.
“Get on the wall.” He said just looking at me.
He took off my hoodie and pushed me to the aim target wall. I walked slowly as my boots mad an echoing sound. I shook in fear as he through the first dagger past my head. I finally was on the wall and tried to run, but he just glared at me.
“Ok, we are going to play a little game. You try climbing the wall without me hitting you and I will let you go. For now.”
“Ok.” I said standing up straight. I turned around and started climbing up. The first dagger went past my hand only 2 inches away. I climbed higher and higher. He threw 3 at once and they all amid for my legs only a couple centimeters away. I started to freak out and went faster. I heard a slice of metal coming out slowly of his belt and I turned myself around only hanging with one hand and he missed. I snickered still climbing fast. He threw another and it hit my ear and a little blood came out. I climbed faster until I made it to the top and picked myself up panting and put my feet on the edge.
“AH.”
He threw the last knife and it hit my boot with my jacket pierced to it. Just an inch away from my foot. I took it out and put it in my belt. This would be good use.
“Thanks for the knife!” I said hopping and running away.
My hoodie around my waste flew like a cape. I held the knife not looking back this time. I knew I was far away and he could not find me. I sat down for a while catching my breathe. I looked up and saw it was almost night. That’s when the dogs were released. I climbed the tree near me and sat in the thick branch that had smooth bark. I rested my head as I dreamed about me with my family. But I can’t they are gone. And I am gone too. I will never leave.
“Dad I don’t want to go to school!”
“Emma White! Don’t give me that attitude! You are 16 and a young adult, you will go to school!”
“FINE.” I walked out the door with me munching on an apple and my book bag in the other. I walked all the way to school late my 30 minutes.
“Miss White why are you late?”
“I walked here Mr. Lake.”
“Ok, but detention after school. Now get to work.”
“Fine.”
I walked to my seat my friends snickering because of my attitude.
After school…. “Ok, you will write a letter saying what you did and get out at 7:00.”
“That is really late!” I said standing up about to walk out the class.
“SIT DOWN! And you will also be cleaning the gum under the desks. That’s why you are staying late.”
“Fine.” We all mumbled.
7:00…
“Ok, your free now get out.” He said tired.
We all rushed out and walked as a group even though we didn’t even know each other.
“Hey guys let’s go in the cemetery and chill for a little bit.”
We all walked to the cemetery and sat on people’s graves. I stayed standing just looking at my mother's grave.
“Well, who want’s a round?”
We all laughed and took a sip. The fog started to creep up on us. I looked at my phone it was 10:00 and I were getting a little wasted.
“Hey guys I am gonna start heading home. See you tomorrow.”
“Bye Em.” They all said.
I walked a little tired and sat down at one point in the cemetery and rested a little bit. I got back up, but something put me back down. . Everything was blurry and all I saw was a mask and a person trying to stab me. I kicked them in the stomach and they went flying back. I got up and ran for my life. I looked back and saw him trying to get me. All I saw was a rock flying at me and I hit the ground. I woke up on the ground thinking they just left me there. Then I looked up and saw a fence and nothing beyond that.
“Hello!”
My voice echoed through the thick forest. I stood up slowly hearing my pounding heart in my head. I looked around in the pitched black night and saw nothing. I have no clue how long I have been asleep or just lying there. All I knew that I was not going to find a way out. No hope is found inside.
