Settling in

Jace's POV
I sighed as we followed Lera's squad to Mike, when we arrived he had them all in rows. I walked to the front with the other operators, standing next to Mike I spoke "We are going to bring you to your dorms, you'll have today to settle in and unpack. Starting tomorrow, you're all getting really tested. You will be fighting operators, you will lose, you will get injured but guess what? I don't care, you're soldiers push through the pain. Mike lead us out, head to the west wing 3rd floor" he nodded as I heard him yell "Sound off!" He started jogging and singing cadence with the recruits following him singing along. I walked after them as kilo whined "Yeah, I know. You're bored." She barked as I chuckled "Come on, stop fuckin around" I heard Lera next to me "What do you think the future holds?" I looked over "A lot less dangerous, probably a lot more boring. I think we've got a huge shift we've got to get comfortable with" she nodded slowly "Do you think we'll be able to start a family someday?" I paused for a minute "Do you want one?" She looked at me "... yeah, kinda" I nodded "Someday" she smiled as kilo whined causing Lera to lean down and pet her. When we arrived to the dorms I saw Zofia directing teams into the dorms I stopped and watched quietly as my team grew into their roles, it was a proud moment. I walked forward "Dinner is at 1800, I'll be over with kilo to lead you to the Cafeteria." They nodded "Yes sir" I waved my hand "Dismissed, unpack and relax. Your DI is your middle man, you've got a problem I have to deal with you tell them, they'll tell me" they saluted as I turned to walk away I heard kilo growling and turned to see Bryan staring at Lera again "Hey Bryan, one more time and I send you back to delta in a body bag" he nodded scared as Lera walked past me along with the rest of the operators. I followed them out before heading to my makeshift office in the main building, when I walked in I sat down with a sigh as I looked at the mountain of paperwork Harry was having me go through. I picked up the file on the top and read through it, "The report of the raid, interesting" I carefully opened it. A full hour later I had read through most of the file, Harry's notes and started taking my own. I heard the door open as kilo sat up and we both looked as the light slowly creeped into the dark room before a silhouette appeared. I blinked as my eyes adjusted to the new brightness, when they adjusted I saw Lera as she walked in "I brought you dinner, you missed it." I looked at the clock as it changed to 19:45 "Holy shit, I didn't even realize" she chuckled "I figured, so what's got you so occupied?" I looked back at the file and my notepad full of notes "I've got the mission report for the raid that got Lion, I kinda got sucked into reading it. I've been taking notes" she walked over and places the tray on the table and sat on my lap looking through the file, "why are you taking notes?" I sighed "I want to learn where we went wrong making decisions in Oracles eye, I figure looking at the mission we just did will help with that" she nodded "Do you have anything you've learned?" I sighed "No, it makes no fuckin' sense" she looked back at me "Why don't you take a break? Come join us for a sim?" I glanced at her and saw the pleading "alright, let's go" she smiled as she stood and offered me a hand. I grabbed it as she pulled me up, I whistled "Kilo, heel" she trotted over as I looked at Lera "Lead the way, my dear" she nodded and walked out the door, I followed her as my eyes drifted down to her ass I decided to tease her and wolf whistled as she spun "Thats it, you're walking infront of me" I sighed as I slowly walked infront of her before we started walking to the sim room, when we arrived I opened the door and held it as Lera walked through before sighing as kilo sod just outside the door "Come on kilo" she just looked at me "Come on, you know how to walk through a door" she whined as I walked out grabbed her before walking through the door carrying her and placing her down. I chuckled as I walked to the quartermaster who looked shocked "Sir? Uh- what can I do for you? Do you need to check inventory? Or are you doing a surprise inspection?" I shook my head "No no, I just need my shotgun and gear" he coughed "Sir?" I looked at him "I'm playing in the sim match, gotta keep the skills honed" he nodded in understanding "Do you want Kilo's stab vest?" I nodded "Gotta keep it realistic" he disappeared as I threw on my Fatigues and waited for the quartermaster to return with my gear as I watched Kilo and Max playing.
