Chapter Five

Jay

I watched as Blair walked up the hallway and waved at me with her perfect smile on her face. 

"Hey Jay!" She smiled as I stood there, thinking about how pretty she really was. I didn't undersatd. 

She's probably the most popular girl at the school, but she not rude, at all. 

I'm the nerd of the school, and she's my only friend here. Well, aside from Jake, who was one of the other 'nerds'. 

"Hey!" I greet her. 

"Well, don't we look fly today?" She asks, refering to what I was wearing. 

All of the clothes, that were not name brand that I had bought for the school year were dirty, so I was wearing a red 'RVCA' shirt and some grey skinny jeans, and I would usually be wearing a 2 or 300 dollar pair of shoes, I just decided to pair it with a pair of red vans. 

"What do you mean?" I ask her, really only wanting her to compliment me further. That's kind of a girlish thing to do, I know, but I did it anyways. 

"I'm talking about what you're wearing. you usually wear a plain colored tee shirt and either black or tan shorts. I think that you look better dressed like this... It's kninda a Justin Bieber style, but it looks good on you." She smiles. A Justin Bieber style? How strange. 

Blair

I felt bad that I had just broken up with John and I didn't even feel an ounce of sadness. I guess that it's just because Jay has shown me how much of a burden John was on my life. 

"So, Jay." I start. He looks up at me as we take a seat at one of the picnic tables under the shade. "Are you going to homecoming?" I ask him, knoowing that it's coming up in a moth and I really wanted to go with him. I didn't even care if we were going to get stared at because I was a cheerleader and he was a 'nerd'. 

He shook his head, grabbing his water bottle out of his backpack. "I don't have a date." He says, bringing the bottle up to his lips. 

"Well, have you asked anyone?" I ask him, hoping that he says no. 

He shakes his head, telling me that he hasn't. 

"Well, are you going to ask anyone?" I ask, becoming a little frustrated with his short answers. 

He thought for a long second, "Well, there is this one girl that I like. I have a few classes with her, but I don't think that she likes me. We talk a lot, but I'm not really sure that she would go with me." He says, making my heart sink. 

"Well, if she doesn't like you, is there anyone else you could ask?" I ask him, trying to hint that I wanted him to ask me. 

He shakes his head, "No. I don't like anyone else." I feel all of my happiness leave my body. 

"I don't have a date either." I tell him, hoping that maybe he would suggest that we go as friends. 

"Well, I'm sure that plenty of guys will as you." He says as the bell rings for first hour. I wanted to tell him that plenty of guys had already asked me, but I didn't want to go with them. I only wanted to go with him. 

Jay

I hated having to tell Blair that I wanted to go with another girl. There honestly was no other girl that I would rather go with, but I couldn't just ask her to home coming, I wanted to do something special for her.
