Chapter 17: Shape Shifting Athena

“Athena’s the name by the way.” the waitress said, now known as Athena. She looked confident; she was actually smiling like a vampire seeing fresh blood for the first time. I wasn’t expecting her to respond like that. Enzo and I were frightened just hearing their voices, and they all sound the same except for Agnus, who had a deeper and scratchy voice.

I introduced ourselves, “The name’s Lavander and that’s Enzo, nice to meet you Athena.” the men with tattoos were closing in, “so got any plan right now?”  I continued. I tried to smile as well but I don’t do well with surprise attacks.

“How about each one of us just takes one partner of their liking and dance with him, I’ll take the one in the right.” Athena said. Enzo and I just nodded. I had my eye on the man who just spoke. His teeth were yellow and he wore a bandana on his head. He had a scar right across his face. I could tell that he’s dangerous but Athena was influential that all I want to do was attack as well. Nobody else except for us was on sight; a great thing.

Athena counted, “One, two, go!” all three of us charged. Athena morphed into a big feline, a jaguar perhaps. I had to stop in amazement, which was unsuspecting. Enzo got the one in the middle first; a big disappointment. He punched him in the chest with rapid force which caused him to fly a few feet backward. He ran once again to his opponent, he punched him rapidly again and again until all you can see are blood for his face.

My opponent wasn’t a full threat, that’s why I would love to take the guy in the middle. He was short and yet he had that bully look, bald, not afraid to back down, he was well stocked and his muscles were visibly seen from his fitted shirt. He wore an eye patch over his right eye. He’s holding two knives in both his hands, trying to scare me off.

“Going to run miss?” my opponent told me. He laughed hysterically or was it demon like, I can’t tell, it was too sophisticated, either way he laughed. He charged. He didn’t really hit me; more like a warning shot. He laughed once again. I was not impressed. I levitated him upward causing him to drop both of his knives. He was struggling, I was focusing on him through his neck and it was getting harder for him to breath. He tried breaking free of the invincible force. I felt sorry for him so I snapped my fingers breaking his neck. I dropped his dead body on the ground.

“Is everyone okay?” I asked. I looked over Athena and her jaguar form. Her opponent was full of scratches. His gun didn’t matched Athena’s big claws. She morphed back, her clothes changed as well, from waitress to jogging pants and a cute top.

“Wow, you could change clothes as well? Nice ability.” Enzo complemented. Her hair and face didn’t change though. I wonder if that was her real face or was she just using it to mask her true identity, I decided that it won’t matter anyway.

Athena smiled at Enzo, “Thank you so much, I figure I can save a lot if I just morphed in my clothes instead of buying them. This way I could also do my own fashion thing.” Athena replied. She was still hyped by her recent battle with the guy with tattoo.

“So what are we going to do with all of these bodies?” I want to leave them but I felt like they need at least a proper burial. We stared at them for a few moments, then the wind swept by, I felt the cool breeze fanning my entire body; it felt good. The bodies turned to ashes and flew away with it; instant crematory? Even Enzo’s fist which was full of blood was cleaned when the wind passed. There was no trace of a battle that just happen was left.

“Woah!” Enzo said in amazement, “I wonder what happened to that body in the motel?” he continued. This was a huge relief. It means that we won’t need to clean up every now and then. Cleaning up takes a lot of energy, just ask Devin and Bryce.
