Chapter 21: Coated with Valour
All four of them charged towards the monster with their swords and guns. The monster jumped 30 feet into the air causing the Purple to take a moment of fear. It was hard enough that that monster was very huge, but it can also jump super high, this thing will be harder than it already was. The Purple Children continued charging in. They’re fearsome cries echoed in the battle field.
The monster was about 15 feet tall; more than twice the size of a basketball player. It was larger than Athena’s rampaging war elephant and looked fatter as well. Its size might be huge but it ran in incredible speed. Its skin colour was green and oozing with slime. It looked like a giant mutated toad with giant bulking eyes and a dog’s snout. It showed its teeth for a moment and they looked like shark teeth; I don’t know how many but there were a lot and sharp. Unlike a toad, it had claws rather than feet webbing. The monster had various stains of blood all over its body, I don’t know if it has gotten into a fight or it came with the package.
I can’t lay down here on the grass and not help them. I need to start moving but I can’t. My whole body ached. I felt like a lot of nails repeatedly poking my whole body. The only parts I can bear to move were my eyes and some of my fingers. I tried as hard as I can to move my limbs but they won’t just cooperate. My whole body just shuts down. I felt worthless. Maybe I’m the first Purple to die, I’m open and vulnerable. I can easily be stabbed. I deserved it, I was weak and clueless. I thought I had the strength but clearly I overestimated my capacity.
I can see from the side of my vision that Bryce was struggling to get free. I don’t know how long he can take being inside a sack but I guessed that he already had enough. It must be getting claustrophobic in that sack. He wiggled and wiggled but his action just won’t do him any good. I’m trying to move, at least for him. I heard his cries even though he was gagged. It changed to a deeper one. What could have they done to him already? I’m coming Bryce, I promise I said to myself as I tried to move any of my limbs.
Athena once again returned to her rampaging war elephant form. She battled the creature head on, locking it on her tusks. The other Purple sliced and shot with their weapons but the slimy goo seemed to be protecting its body preventing anything to have actual contact. The purple were losing hope on winning but they kept on trying.
Athena tried to head butt the creature but its strength was obviously stronger than hers. She was easily over thrown to the ground. She fell to her side and had trouble getting up. She morphed back into her human form just to stand up. The creature saw that and tried to stomp her but Enzo grabbed and carried her away from the monster.
“Thank you.” Athena said, she was running out of breath and eventually fell to the ground. Her energy was depleted from the battle she just had. She stood up with the little energy she has. She had determination in her eyes that they could kill this thing.
“No problem, you’re doing a great job.” Enzo complemented her and returned to the fight. Devin and Nancy were still trying different strategies. Shooting and cutting at different direction, but none has worked so far.
Athena was still struggling with her breath. She took one last breath and charged, this time she did not morph into an elephant but into a bull. It ran in full force with its horns pointed at the monster. Its horn was stuck on the monster body penetrating its skin. The monster didn’t seem to be hurt at all. It just kicked Athena causing her bull form to fly. Athena was smart, before she could hit the ground she morphed into a cat landing to her feet. She morphed to her human form and totally fell to the ground. She looked worn out, but she’s trying to get up, but couldn’t find the strength to do so. Her breathing was unstable.
