I Didn't Mean It

Back in Weiss' hotel room, she sat down on the sofa and pondered over her relationship status. "You know Cinder, what if I've been approaching this whole relationship thing the wrong way?" Cinder rolled her eyes, but Weiss continued. "I'm serious, Cinder. I just don't see the point in having a relationship. I've managed just fine on my own without one," Cinder said.

"Ugh, Cinder, your attitude is why you don't have a partner," Weiss replied with a smirk. "I'll have you know that I am interested in someone, but I have no time for them because my work takes priority," Cinder said, rolling her eyes once again.

Weiss stood up and looked out the window. "Why did I have to say it like that? I just need to talk to her," she said while pulling out her phone to text Ruby.

"Hey Ruby, you got a second?" Weiss wrote.

Ruby's reply was cautious, "What do you want? You're still trying to use me as a publicity stunt?"

"That's not how I should have said that. Would you mind if I explained what I was trying to tell you?" Weiss wrote back.

"Doesn't mean I'll accept what you're going to say," Ruby replied.

Feeling discouraged, Weiss sent another message, "I'll understand if you still don't accept what I'm saying."

"Fine, go ahead then," Ruby agreed.

"Well, first of all, I want to apologize for mentioning the publicity stunt," Weiss wrote. "I was trying to say I wouldn't mind the public seeing us as a couple."

Ruby's reply was skeptical, "Wait, what?"

"Ugh... Ruby, I'm trying to say that I find you cute and I want to see what would happen if we tried dating," Weiss wrote, her nerves getting the best of her.

"But why me? Why choose me?" Ruby asked.

"Ruby, let me be honest. The first time I saw your tweet about my concert, I was taken aback by your looks. Your silver eyes and beautiful face stood out from the crowd of fans. I felt like I was singing to you and you alone," Weiss explained.

Ruby responded, "Wow, Weiss. I see now. How you feel about me. I'm flattered, but I can't accept your feelings."

"That's totally understandable, Ruby. I don't blame you for not accepting," Weiss wrote back.

"Though I will have to admit, there is something about you that I can't put my finger on," Ruby added.

"Well, I'm sorry for taking up your time, Miss Rose. I guess I'll see you in a few days for your game. I'm singing the national anthem after all," Weiss said.

"Okay, I guess I'll see you then. Goodbye, Miss Schnee," Ruby replied.

Feeling heartbroken, Weiss handed her phone to Cinder and began to cry. "Cinder, she denied me. Here, if you want to look for yourself," she said, sniffling.

Cinder read the messages and laughed. "Well, it's clear that you have romantic feelings for Miss Rose, but damn, she shut you down bad." Cinder handed the phone back to Weiss and walked out of the room, leaving Weiss to cry herself to sleep.
