"Today is the day," Ruby thought. "I hope she makes it quick." Suddenly, a notification popped up on Ruby's phone. It was a message from Weiss Schnee. Ruby sighed and rolled her eyes, but she opened the message anyway.

"Hey, I just wanted to wish you luck on your game today," Weiss wrote.

"Well, thank you, and good luck with the anthem," Ruby replied.

"Thank you. See you soon," Weiss wrote back.

Ruby put her phone in her locker and turned to her friend Nora. "Hey Nora, what should I do? I'm lost," she said.

"Well, first, tell me what's going on. I have to be in the know, after all!" Nora replied with a cheerful smile. Ruby smiled back.

"You always know how to cheer me up, Nora. I don't know how you do it, but thank you. Now, the thing I need advice about... Someone just told me they were interested in me, but I turned them down because they said it would be like a publicity stunt. I don't want to end up like my mother," Ruby said, tearing up.

"Well, how do you truly feel, Ruby? What does your heart tell you?" Nora asked.

"How I truly feel? I really like her. She's funny, cute, she's the perfect height for me to hug, and her hair color is like snowflakes. I want to be with her, but this is the way my mother started out," Ruby said.

"You can't keep pushing what happened to your mother onto yourself. It's your life. Live it the way you want to live it! So, I say, do it. Follow what your heart is telling you," Nora said, smiling and giving Ruby a hug. "Now, we have a game to win. Let's do it!" The two of them bumped knuckles.

The game was underway, and the Cardinals were playing against the Seattle Mariners. During the national anthem, Weiss Schnee sang, and the crowd was in awe of her performance. After the game, the Cardinals emerged victorious with a score of 18 to 14.

Back in the locker room, Ruby and Nora thanked their coach, Pyrrah, for their successful season. Ruby's phone rang again, and it was another message from Weiss.

"Hey Ruby, congratulations on winning your game today," Weiss wrote.

"Hey Weiss, how are you? And thank you!" Ruby replied.

"I'm good. Would you be interested in going for a celebratory dinner tonight?" Weiss asked.

"Blake and Yang had invited me for a celebratory dinner at Carmines tonight, but you're welcome to join us," Ruby wrote back.

"Of course, but just know that I will be paying for this meal since I owe you an apology for a few days ago," Weiss replied.

"Oh yeah! Blake said she had a surprise for the both of us," Ruby wrote.

"Oh really, what could it be?" Weiss asked.

"I don't know, but I'm sure excited for it!" Ruby replied.

"What time should I be there?" Weiss asked.

"Just meet us there at 7:30. That's when we all agreed to be there," Ruby wrote.

"Hey, can I meet you at 7:15? I want to talk privately for a few minutes," Weiss asked.

"Sure, I'm normally there early anyways," Ruby wrote back.

"Okay! I'll see you then!" Weiss hangs up and sets her phone on her desk.
