A Date To Remember
Raina Fuller

"Without thinking what's the first country that pops up in your mind," he asked.

"France," I said quickly.

"Okay, I'm outside by the way" then the lines went dead.

—9 hours later—

I had to pinch myself as I sat in Bistrot d'Henri-Princesse a restaurant in Paris. When he asked me that question a couple of hours ago, I thought he was just being weird. When he said to carry my passport, though I listened I honestly thought he was joking but instead he had his private jet landing in France. His jet was so fancy too, the food he had his personal air hostess offering us was so much better than many restaurants I've been to. Before we got here, he took me to another house of his where I had so many clothes options to change off into and a wide variety of makeup so technically I got redressed.

"What do you think?" He asked as he focused on the menu.

"This feels surreal, I never knew these things could happen in real life. I-

"The food. I was asking about that" he said cutting me off.

I was slightly embarrassed but I did browse the menu and I didn't know what to get because most of it was in French.

"The lobster ravioli and the marinara pasta" I stated as I watched as he nodded in agreement.

"You'll love the pasta," He said closing his menu. The waiter had come and collected our orders then gave an estimate.

"Your choice of country is interesting I must say" He chuckled. "France, quite intriguing. You love the idea of love, don't you? You're into little things like this"

"This is far from the little things I love because this doesn't count as a little thing. I've seen the place in movies, read about it in books. I have to admit Paris in specific just seemed like fairytale place where nothing but happily ever after happens. All I can say is you're about to get me fired"

"I'll vouch for you" He winked, "or since I'm part owner you can just relax and trust that you'll still have a job when you get back"

"I still can't believe you did all of this. This is crazy"

He smiled before looking at me, "you know what's crazier, the fact that no one forced you into that plane, you could've said no yet here you are"

"So I guess it's just sweet then..." I said taking in the environment once more. "But a sweet guy these days are rare so what do you expect to become of this? the average man would not just fly someone out on their private jet for their first date"

"Because the average man can't afford to" he smiled mischievously. He honestly shut me up with that one because it was the last response I saw coming.

"I just wanted to do something nice while getting to know you" He continued, "I hate the 21 questions way. I'd rather observe you in different situations and environments. Not saying you'd lie in answering but sometimes that's how you'll know someone's truest details by observing"
