"Well, there's nothing here," Clary stated, as she walked back towards Seraphina and Isabelle, who were standing right on the other side of the counter. "It seems that whoever was here, managed to leave without a trace."
"That's odd. This place is literally filled with valuable, fragile antiques. If there had been an abduction, there should be signs of struggle," Isabelle noted.
Seraphina sighed. "Unless..."
"Unless what?" Clary questioned.
"Unless this wasn't an abduction," she continued, making Clary and Isabelle exchange worried glances. "Maybe Jane Freeman wasn't taken against her will."
"But that doesn't make sense. That would mean..." Clary couldn't bear to finish that sentence.
"We need more evidence before we accuse dozens of Shadowhunters of high treason," Isabelle said, and to be fair, Seraphina knew she was right. "Clary did you find any indication that Jane was here?"
"I found this earring, probably fell when she wasn't looking." Clary said, handing her a small, round pearl. "But I don't think we can track her just like that. They must be using all kind of protective runes."
"Maybe we won't be able to track her with a normal Tracking rune, but parabatai tracking always proves more efficient," Isabelle said, as she turned to Seraphina. "Do you want to give it a try?"
"I don't remember how to use it." She admitted, but Isabelle smiled reassuringly.
"Just hold my hand," Isabelle extended her hand with the earring, and with a reluctant sigh, Seraphina took her hand and closed her eyes, awaiting further instructions. "Now... think about me."
"What? I barely know you."
"That's not true. You still have your parabatai rune, right? Use it to feel a connection."
She groaned a complaint after a few seconds. "It's not working, and we're wasting precious time."
"You may not remember shit, but you are as impatient as ever," Isabelle complained back. "Just try to dig into your mind. Let the energy flow through you."
"Thanks, Isabelle," the sound of her own voice surprised her. She sounded much younger.
A younger version of Isabelle stood before her. "For what? The clothes? Don't mention it. I have way too many clothes that I never get to wear anyways."
"Yeah, but I also mean for everything else. Especially for making me laugh when I almost thought I couldn't." She found herself walking up to her and subsequently embracing her in a hug. Isabelle tensed, clearly not expecting it, but relaxed eventually and returned the hug.
"Sorry. Shadowhunters aren't much of huggers." Isabelle said shyly.
The scene suddenly shifted. She was now lying on a bed, Isabelle worriedly sitting beside her, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear.
Leah sighed heavily. "I don't think I'm gonna get any more sleep. Sorry to wake you up, though."
Isabelle smiled and shook her head. "Don't worry about it. But maybe you'll sleep better if I ask Jace to sleep with you?"
Leah pillow-slapped her and laughed with her. "Don't even mention it. Or I'll have to ask Clary to give you a goodnight kiss, too."
Then, with a gasp for air, she was back at the antique store, where Isabelle and Clary stared at her with confusion.
"Is everything alright?"
She shook her head, trying her best to dismiss whatever visions had just flooded her mind. "Yeah. Uh... Did you find anything?"
