The room was dark. I was silent. No one, no one kept repeating in my head.
No one.
Iris.
No one.
Iriiissss...
No on-My eyes flutter open. The light is blinding. I can tell that Simmons is running some tests on me.
I close my eyes again, try to relax. Flashbacks haunt me.
Iris......
Iris.....
Her laughter fills the air.My eyes shoot back open. I am not okay. This will never be okay.
Simmons doesn't say anything. She just keeps on doing her work. She doesn't seem to notice any changes in me. That anything is wrong.
"Iris, we have something for you. It's for your..... Mental health, I guess you could say. I'm having Fitz bring it here." Jemma speaks, while packing up the equipment.
I sit there is silence while she packs the rest up. The door slides open, and I look up. Fitz and Daisy walk in. Fitz is holding a medium sized box.
Daisy gently takes the box from Fitz, and carries it over to me, placing it on my lap.
"Open it," she grins.
They all look at me expectantly. I'm very confused. It this was medical technology, I wouldn't to be opening it. Fitzsimmons would just be hooking it up.
Slowly, I open one flap. Then the other. A a blanket with a Post-It note saying companionship is sitting there. I lift up the blanket and let out a gasp.
Looking back up at their smiles, I shed some happy tears.
I gently reach in and pick it up. It is the most beautiful dog I had ever seen, dark fur full of fluff and curls.
I look back up at them, a smile on my face.
"Aspen. His name is Aspen." I proudly state.
