unexpected company

Chapter 1

Raven's POV

" Allright, Why am I doing thisa gain ? " I said to myself out loud with a sigh. I was on my way back from Blue mountains where Thorin SHOULD be but of course he wasn't there. I haven't seen Gandalf since our conversation in my tomb neither but he had told me that if Thorin was not in Bluemountains by the time I arrived there, he would be on his way to the Bree. In my opinion it was useless journey. Right now, I'm sprinting with my horse, Fantoma (If your wondering why am I riding a horse,well, a group of bats in daylight would very, very conspicuous, dont you think). Not that my black battle armor does not attract attention. Luckily, I took my cloak with me, so I can cover it during the day. Same goes for my weapons. Well, one that can be seen - my Void Sword ( has special ability on it's own). My other waepons are Shadow Whip and Chaos Claws - this waepon manifest as a pair ofgauntlets made of raging fire emanating from my fists up to my elbows, although I don't use them as much as Sword or Whip, only inemergency. Anyways, I'm half way from Bree, I hope I make it in time.

"Ok, Fantoma, we'll stop for a minute, we've been running all day on the sunlight, we need to rest "I said to my horse. As she stopped I dismounted from her bare back and sat down in the shade of a tree. I started to dose off on the cool grass but then I heard it. The unmistakable sound of sword fighting. So i went to have a look. 'Oh no, well, looks like I found Thorin'.

Thorin POV

Just wonderful. I was making my way to the Bree from Blue mountains after I got contacted by a Grey wizard but I did not expect to be ambushed by some idiots on the way there.There's 6 of them, this won't be easy. I killed 2 already. I duck just in time to avoid being beheaded. I'm in big trouble now. But then I heard......a whistle? The attackers stopped for a second and as if on clue a beautiful girl, no more than 30 years old, jumped from the tree from above me and started attacking those thiefs.

" What are you doing here? Who are you?" I yelled at her as I fought off 2 of them. " I don'tb have time to talk right now, I'll explain later" she yelled back at me as the last 2 men went to attack. She quickly chopped off the head of the first of the attackers but the other stabbed her in the shoulder with the dagger. She threw him off and before he could do anything, she stabbed him with her sword. After that, something special happened. Mist came out of the sword and the attacker turnedinto piece of ice. As she drew the sword that ice shattered. She took a few deep breaths and snatched the dagger from her shoulder, which she then threw to the ground next to the pieces of ice. "Who areyou " I asked again. At the question she looked at me with her red eyes and said " my name is Raven and I'm send by Gandalf "

" Why would a wizard send a girl to me" I asked. At that moment I had a sword still in her hand at my throat, " If I were you, I'd weigh the words, I've made a vow and I'll keep that as well"

Raven's POV

'What does he think of himself ? I'm no girl he can sweep the floor with at any time. I'm higher vampire living for more then 4 000 years damn it' I thought as I lowered my sword and sheathed it back on my side. 'Calm down, just don't kill him, first of all it wouldn't be very pleasant, and second of all I'm supposed to protect him. Wait a minute, why didn't my wound heal long ago?' I looked at the dagger on the ground 'Poisoned blade,great,should be out of my system in few minutes'

" We should get out of here before anyone else shows up" I said while heading for his pony. As soon as he got on, I stepped away from him. "You don't have a horse? "he asked me, " I do, I just have to summon her" I replied and started searching in my mind for Fantoma. Meanwhile, as I summond her, I could feel Thorin looking at me in confusion. I stood motionless, waiting for Fantoma to find me. This transe lasted about 1 minute, then I heard the sound of my mare's hooves. I opened my eyes and saw her galloping towards us. I turned to Thorin, smiling "Lets go, we'll be in Bree in two days" Fantoma stopped in front of me and I hopped on her back. "Where's your saddle ?" he asked once again.

"We don't ride with saddles".After that question, we went to Bree. I can sense he has a lot of other questions but they must wait. We'll have to spend the night outside but we've got a few more hours so far. If we go five more hours, it's the best. But I'm going to have a minor problem, I'm going to need to hunt. Not just for more supplies for Thorin but for blood for me. I don't want to hurt Thorin by accident.
