Mia and Tris walked inside the house, the house was unusually quiet. Tris looked at Mia, her eyebrows creased in confusion. When Hazel was home, the house was filled with music. Whether it was her own works of art from the Cazzette or music from the 70's, 80's, 90's and remixed 60's. It was quiet, something they both hadn't heard in a long time since moving in after high school. As far as they knew, Hazel hadn't left the house except to get Mia's perfume and she was off today. The golden eyed DJ usually never left to house on off days since she went out all the time to her job. Mix, drink, talk, come home, argue (with Mia), sleep and repeat. They cycle was fun but unlike Mia, Hazel need some time to herself. She wasn't always the party animal.
"I'm gonna go rest my legs." Tris said, breaking the odd silence. The makeup artist nodded her head," You go do that sis." As the college student went upstairs to her room, Mia walked to Hazel's room down the hall. She raised an eyebrow at the door being left wide open. Hazel sat on her bed in her pajamas, a red crop top and boxers. She sat with her back facing the door and she was hunched over. Mia raised an eyebrow, leaning against the doorway of Hazel's spacious room and smirked," I see somebody is in their feelings." She teasingly sung," So deep in your feelings." She added," What the hell is wrong with you?" Hazel rolled her eyes at the sound of her best friend's voice," Shouldn't you be suckin' Janet's pussy?" Mia sighed nonchalantly sighed," Been there done that last night and this morning."
"For once in your stupid life can you listen to what I say and shut the hell up?"
The makeup artist looked out the window and under Haze's bed. Seeing nothing she stood back up. Hearing the soft shuffle of her blanket the DJ said," The hell are you doing?"
"Try'na figure out who the fuck you are talking to cause it damn sure ain't me." Mia answered with a sassy tone as she place her hands on her hips. Hazel gave her a sharp, fake laugh," You real fucking funny Mia. Go bother Tris for fuck sake."
"Uh no," The shorter woman answered with a smirk," I wanna bother you since somebody decided it was okay to ruin my warm vanilla set so get used to it. I'll be here all day and night if I have to just to bother you."
"Don't be more of a bitch than you already are. Leave me the fuck alone." The DJ growled. Mia raised an eyebrow but her expression turned serious," Why Hazel, tell me." Her brown eyes focused on her friend, catching the glint of something shiny. It was curled around her fisted left hand, a familiar necklace. A thin silver chain that held a black, polished record player with a gold center and outline. Engraved into the record in cursive hot pink were the words Goldie Effect. The necklace was Amel's, Hazel had given it to her after at the release party of her album Infinite Possibilities. They made their relationship public that night.
The makeup artist smirked again," Never mind, I have my answer."
"Answer to what?" Hazel questioned, slightly turning around. "To why you acting this way." Mia said, more in a 'matter of fact' tone," You still love her don't you?" The DJ sighed, hesitating before she finally repeated," I said leave me alone."
Mia rolled her eyes, completely unsurprised by her attitude," Yeah right. So what happened? She showed up at your job, the studio or you just thought about her?"
"Shut up Mia!" Hazel barked angrily. Again, Mia rolled eyes and they landed on the wall her bed was put against. It was missing, the poster of her and Amel in Central Park.
"Smh. What happened to it?"
Hazel raked a hand through her hair and explained," Mariah was here so I had to move it." The DJ caught Mia's trick, she snapped," Fuckin' bitch. You better have a passport because I'm going to—"
"You'll what?" The makeup artist teased and she laughed," Blackmail me? Not gonna happen."
"Somebody's getting bold." The DJ added," You really wanna—"
"Go there, cause I will too." She added with a smirk," If you put me and Janet business out there, I will tell Mariah about Amel and why y'all broke up. Do you really want that?" Hazel looked up from her left hand," You wouldn't..."
"Try me." Mia remarked with a devilish smirk. The DJ narrowed her golden eyes," You...Karma's a bitch huh? Shoulda saw this one comin'. Mia, can you at least do me a favor then?"
"What's that?"
"Give this back to her." Hazel said, holding the chain out from her bed's left side. "Okay..." Mia raised an eyebrow at how quick her mood changed. From annoyed and angry to hopeless. A deafening hopeless, Hazel's aura of sorrow was easily felt.
Mia was actually starting to worry but not enough to care. Her worry was like the size of an invisible needle. Oh wait those don't exist.
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah, just please don't say anything to Amel..." Hazel calmly pleaded with a voice full of exhaustion and dimming nervousness. Mia walked over and took the chain, casting a glance at Hazel. The older woman held a hand to her face, covering her eyes. She looked drained for the first time as if she hadn't slept in a month.
Still don't care. Mia thought, walking out the room with a smirk. She smirked," Okay, I won't, besides we still on for tonight."
"What?"
