"I don't care." I half lie, while rolling my eyes.

"Babe!" Melly jumps up in excitement when she sees her boyfriend. They seemed so happy together. He wraps his arms around her, she lays her cheek on his chest.

I wanted someone, too, to make me feel drunk when I was sober by just the touch of their skin against mine.

The first bell rings as kids rush to get to class. "I'll meet you later, Julie!" Melly yells as she walks away.

I walk into homeroom, taking my seat as usual. I was on time for two days in a row, which made me feel pretty good. As I'm walking over to my seat I see Mark and Derek staring at me in a weird way, in a suspicious way I had to say.

I slowly sit down, very uncomfortable.

I reach into my backpack, pulling out my compact mirror, but then I remember that I had broken it a few days earlier. I mean, if we killed all the mirrors, then maybe we wouldn't kill ourselves.

"Please take out last night's homework. I'll be coming around to check it." Mrs. Gray announces.

I groan. I had forgotten all about homework.

When Mrs. Gray comes to my desk, she looks at me with a slightly disappointed look.

"Julie, c'mon. I know you're so much better than that." She tells me. I hadn't done my homework in over two weeks. I honestly didn't know what was happening to me.

"I'm sorry. I honestly forgot, Mrs. Gray." I tell her.

She sighs. "Promise me you'll at least try to do it next time. Please. For me?" She gives me a sympathetic smile.

"I promise." I smile back.

*Few Hours Later*

I walk into 5th period after lunch, only to see Michael already sitting in yesterday's seat. I guess I would sit next to him today too.

"Julie." He smiles.

I shoot him a small smile.

"Are you going to the party tonight?" He asks.

"You know about the party?" I ask him. I knew I sounded so stupid asking that.

"Yeah." He laughs. "Everyone's going. Are you?"

I shrug. "Yeah, only because my friend doesn't want to go alone."

"You aren't going to regret going, trust me." He smiles.

*Few Hours Later*

The last bell of the day rings as high school students hurry out of school. Melly was by the entrance waiting for me. "Ready to go?" She asks.

"Yeah." I smile back.

As we start walking to Melly's house, Melly asks, "Wait have you told your mom that you're going?"

"She doesn't need to know." I laugh.

"I like this Julie." Melly high fives me.

We walk into Melly's house a few minutes later, since she didn't live too far from the school.

"Hello, Julie!" Melly's mom waves from the kitchen. She was making spaghetti.

"Hi Mrs. Lawson." I wave back at her.

"Julie's coming to the party with me tonight." Melly tells her mom.

"That's great." She smiles.

Mrs. Lawson was cool and didn't really care about what Melly did.

"Come on Julie." Melly tells me as she walks upstairs to her room.

She walks straight to her closet as soon as she enters her room.

"Now what are you going to wear?" She asks herself, scanning through her closet.

"I got it!" She screams out in excitement as she pulls out a black, short fitted dress with long sleeves.

"This is going to look so good on you." She squeals, pulling out a pair of black heels from the bottom of her bed. "Go try it on." She says pointing to the restroom in her room.

I do as told and quickly put the dress on, including the heels. I look at myself in the mirror, judging every inch of my body.

Look at you, fat and disgusting.

I come out of the bathroom awkwardly, not really feeling the dress.

"Julie!" Melly gasps. "You look hot."

I laugh. "I don't really think I go in this."

"Shut up! You look hot! You're wearing this tonight." She tells me.

"Wait here. I'm going to put my dress on." She tells me as she walks into the restroom.

She comes out in a red skater dress, with a pair of matching black heels, similar to mine.

"I'm ready." She tells me.

"Should we go now?" I ask her.

"Not yet. I still want to fix you up a little." She says with a laugh.

I act offended. "Are you calling me ugly?"

"No. You're hot." She says with a playful wink. "I just want you to be an extra heart breaker tonight." She smirks.

"What do you have in mind?" I ask.

"Maybe a bit of makeup and oh my gosh, I really want to curl your hair!" She says like an excited five year old.

"Then lets get started." I laugh.

She starts with curling my hair then moves onto the makeup.

I hear her squeal in excitement when she finally finishes.

"Okay, you can look in the mirror now." She tells me with the biggest smile on her face.

My hair was perfectly curled and my makeup looked great. The winged eyeliner was also a great touch.

"Melly." I say in shock, observing myself in the mirror. I did look like a heart breaker.

"You look good, right." She says.

"Wow, better than before." I laugh.

"Okay. Now we're ready to go." She says.

"Lets go." I say with a smile.
