CHAPTER 1

 The lights blinded me as i woke. I felt like i was moving on something that was in motion. I could feel pain over every part of my body. As tears formed, i looked around to see the situation i was in. There were men in white clothes each talking. I couldn't quite make it out, but i only heard one thing, cure. What cure? Cure for what, i thought. Soon one man looked directly at me and pulled up some kind of medicine and struck me with it. I felt the pain increase in that area. I felt very dizzy and i couldn't make out any images. Soon, everything went dark. Very dark.

I woke up with a jolt. I was feeling better then before and started to look around. It was very dark but somehow I could see everything easily. I could also hear everything. Suddenly, the door to the right of me opened. Two men who had some sort of weapons in hand told me that i should follow them to the lounge. I followed even though something in me told me not to. We soon left the area which i was in and started walking down a long hall.

From the outside the area I was in looked like some sort of cage. As we left the hall we entered a big room with a multiple cages like mine. I started to wonder why we had cages in the first place. Were we criminals? Did we pose a threat to something. Are we used for experiments, i thought. Then, i noticed that I couldn't remember anything that happened to me before I saw the men in white coats. It worried me and made a little cautious. As we walked for a few more minutes. Then, we entered another room. This room was filled with other kids. I was glad i was not the only one. Then i remembered the cages. Maybe each kid had their own cages, i thought. Soon, the men who escorted me there left and closed the sliding doors of metal. I turned my gaze to the multitude of kids. I then saw a group of kids huddled next to the wall. I decided its time to make some friends. I walked over to them, not hesitating in the least.

"Hi." I said when I reached them.

"Hi. Who are you? Haven't seen you around. Must be new." said one tall boy.

"Yeah. I guess. My name is....um...." I started to think really hard. How was it possible I forgot my own name? Then i remembered. "Oh. My name is Cassie."

"I'm Derrick. Over to the right is Chandler. The two to my left are Grace and Gravy."

"Well, well, well. So we got a new treat to play with." shouted someone. I looked back to see a girl and three boys coming towards each other.

"You really wanna start this now Laura." said Derrick.

"Yeah, I do." said Laura. " Hey, newbie. Wanna go up against me?"

"Sure." I said not knowing what it mean't.

"Good." said Laura. "But before we start, lets exchange each others abilities.Me first. I have the ability to grow to any size i please. Observe.

Then suddenly, Laura disappeared out of sight. She was gone. She could change sizes. Maybe she shrank. I looked towards my feet to see a tiny human being. Then, she suddenly sprouted and grew. She was huge. She towered over us and I was glad that the room we were in was large. She then shrank back to normal size.

"I can also make parts of my body grow or shrink. But don't think I have infinite growth and shrink. I have my limitations. Done. Whats your ability?" she asked.

"Um...I don't know. I don't think I have any." I said.

"Of course you do. But since you don't have any abilities to use against me, I guess I win. I bet you won't even get abilities. Well my times up." said Laura. " I'll see you later newbie."

"Hey, don't listen to her. You will figure out your ability soon. Before the trials. Soon, you will be the best. I feel it." said Derrick.

"Is that one of your abilities?" I asked.

"Nope. That's just something I'm good at. This is my ability." Then, Derrick's body started to get red, soon I felt heat around him as flames started to form. The flames just covered him as they got bigger. Soon, his body was made of flames. Even his eyes.

"Pretty cool, right?" said Derrick.

"Yeah, pretty cool." I said. "I hope my abilities are as good as yours."

"Soon." he said.

"Soon." I said.
