Outside was not mountains of rubber bands, no candy, but a city that lay in front of us. This city was full of destruction and broken things everywhere. At least what we could tell from the buildings. I couldn't imagine what inside the city looked like. We could see everything because we were on the side of a mountain, that entered into a cave to E.C.C.E facilities. I was surprised by the view. The view was horrifying, but in a way good. It felt good to be out of imprisonment for now. If only the kids left behind seen this. The kids left behind. I think E.C.CE are now punishing kids and going hard on them. Well, we will be back for them. But, from the view, they may have not wanted to come with us anymore. How were we supposed to survive there? How, I thought. Well, in all circumstances, we were going to have to try and hope a lot so we could stay alive. That would be no easy task. Well, hoping would. Actually happening wouldn't. We started our way down the mountain heading for the city because it would provide us great hiding places against E.C.C.E and it has stores, and other public places. Which was what everyone wanted. As we were somewhere in the forest, I looked up towards the mountains to see E.C.C.E facilities, and the door we came out of. It was buzzing with soldiers. Looking for us huh? Not gonna happen. Soon we exited the forest. At the end, there was a long road that led towards the city. So long that Phoenix said maybe it was made for cars to drive, and not for people to walk there. I was guessing she was right because there was no sidewalk.

As we made our long treacherous journey to the city, I started to think about the kids left behind. The kids who might have wanted to come but just didn't know. Or the kids who said no at first, and then said yes the last few seconds. Or the kids who tried to get out after us and got caught and punished severely. I could only hope that those kids were safe, and OK. If anything did happen to the kids, once we reach safe grounds, I would bring a secret team of kids and we would bust the other kids out.

"Hey, you OK? You have a sad look on your face. Can't tell if its because you miss the luxury of the E.C.C.E prisons, or because your sad we will be living in the busted up city." said Phoenix.

"Its not either of those. I'm just...I just feel really sorry for the kids who couldn't come with us. They would've had a better life here than in there." I said.

"Yeah, me too. I just hope we can find a way to help them later." replied Phoenix.

Suddenly, Derrick stopped dead in his tracks. We all stopped when Derrick stopped. He then pointed up ahead. There, up ahead on the road, was a humanoid creature with ripped skin and bones in different places. It looked exactly like the one I saw in the lab window. I suddenly felt that this wasn't going to end well.

"Um...Hello! Over here!" yelled Derrick. The creature turned to look at him. "Um...Can you tell us directions to a store maybe in the city?"

No respond.

"Hello! Were new here and we would just like directions to the st---" said Phoenix as the creature yelled a high-pitched, horrifying scream.

"Are you OK?" yelled Derrick.

Then the creature ran by some rocks far from the road and stayed there.

"OK, if that thing gives us trouble, we fight back." said Derrick picking up big sticks. "Here. Each of you can defend yourself."

We started to head forward again with each of us looking in the direction of the creature. Since it was far away and we had more people. we started to calm ourselves down. We didn't let our guard down though. Soon, we were directly across the creature. It was still behind the rocks. As soon as we took another step the creature screamed. It screamed louder than before, and we pointed our sticks at him telling it to stay where it was. The creature got up and took 3 steps toward us. I finally was able to see it clearly. It had veins reaching from its eyes to is legs. The veins were black and dark red. The skin was a grayish color. The mouth was revealing bone, disconnected bone. Probably from all that screaming. Its hands had long nails at the end, some broken. Worst of all, its chest had a few ripped clothes on it and its heart grew outside. It was completely black. Us and the creature stared at each other for a while until, it screamed once more. This time though it was mixed with different sounds. Sounds that could've mean't something. Then Chandler froze.

"I don't know why but the feeling in his scream felt like, he was calling something." said Chandler. "That can't be good. We might be outnumbered. Guess E.C.C.E doesn't seem so bad after all."

"Shut your trap. Now lets move." said Derrick. "Not too fast eve---". He looked back as we did and saw something horrifying. The same creatures were behind us. Not too close but also not too far. Maybe about some four-hundred feet. There were tons of them. Each looking directly at us. Drooling.

"Ok...stay calm everyone. There not moving. Maybe they're looking at something else, or just doing there thing." said Derrick.

"So you call standing there looking at us with drooling is normal. Predator, " Phoenix said pointing at the creatures then pointing at us,"..prey. Circle of life."

"Yeah, but I wasn't planning on getting eaten today. Or tomorrow. Or ever." said Chandler.

"Since we're prey, isn't the thing we do is...run?" I said.

"True." said Chandler.

"No. Calmly walk forward maybe----" started Derrick, then the creatures ran towards us with their en-longed legs.

"RUN!" yelled Phoenix.

We ran across the road as fast as we could to get to the city, which still was very far away. We ran with fear and the courage to not get eaten. No matter how fast we ran though, the creatures were able to catch up to us. While we were running I spotted an entrance way and I started to go there. It wasn't far from the road and everyone was following me so I just hoped that this was the right way to go. The entrance way was dark, we ran in and kept running until there were iron bars at the end. A dead end. We looked back at the way we came in and heard the creatures approaching the entrance way. We didn't have anywhere to go, so I was thinking we would have to fight them all off.

"There!" said Phoenix. She pointed at a whole next to the iron bars, she went in and we followed.

As we entered the hole, we saw different substances on the wall and different liquids. We kept on crawling then heard a loud scream. It was the creatures. They weren't far behind. At the end of the hole, there was a door that was slightly open. We gathered our strength and pulled on the door opening it slowly. As soon as we opened the door, we all crawled as quickly as possible on the other side. Then we all started pushing it back close when one of the creatures tried to force it open. We used all our strength and pulled the door closed. We all were still looking at the door terrified and out of breath. Then I turned to the other direction where I saw some light. I went to it and it was also where the hole ended. I climbed out and I saw a camp. Nobody. The others followed close behind. Derrick went past me and he went into one of the tents. He came out with water and a bag containing bagels.

Dinner.
