I sat on the floor of the TARDIS. My aching head in my hands, and a worried Doctor sitting beside me. My panic had subsided a bit, and I was slowly coming to terms with the fact that this was real. I was really in the TARDIS. Now I just felt heavy, my muscles were tired, and my head felt like it had just been trampled by elephants.
"Just- explain it to me one more time?" I looked at the doctor, still greatly confused and scared.
He sighed, "I still don't know a lot, but, you somehow jumped here from a parallel universe. At least, that's the theory," The Doctor paused, collecting his thoughts, "you.. jump around a lot. Just vanish into thin air and then re appear at some other point in my time stream. We never meet in the right order."
I frowned, "And you don't know why?"
He shook his head, face set in a grim pout. "I wish I did." He reached over and took my hand in his, "and- I'm so sorry," he said, looking at the engagement ring that sat loosely on my finger, "but to my knowledge you never go back home."
My heart clenched as I met his gaze, looking at the beautiful gold ring. Intuitively, I had known. As soon as I came aboard the ship I knew that everything had been changed for good. But some part of me had still held on hope for those precious minutes when I was still unaware of the severity of my situation. My soul ached as I thought back to the night when I had gotten this ring. Maybe, if The Doctor was lucky, he would get to hear that story one day. I had a feeling that in the future we were close.
"Lily!"
I stiffened as I heard a very familiar voice call out my name. No. It couldn't be. I looked at The Doctor with wide eyes, he just smiled at me.
Immediately, I was tackled by a blur of blonde hair. She squeezed me so hard I swore I felt my spine crack. Coughing slightly, I hugged the girl back. I knew exactly who it was, and my suspicions were confirmed as soon as she pulled back, beaming at me from ear to ear.
"Rose!" I cheered, returning her grin.
"Right, where have you come from then?" She asked, straightening her jumper and running her fingers through her slightly ruffled hair.
My jaw opened, but no sound came out. I was trying to formulate an answer, trying to explain to her something that I myself didn't even understand.
The Doctor noticed my discomfort and stood up, putting a hand on Rose's shoulder. "Rose," he muttered softly, "look at her."
Rose deadpanned from me back to The Doctor, "all right I looked at her.. where did she come from?"
The Doctor groaned and motioned between us frustratedly, "no, really, look at her." He said, pointing at my hand. He was trying to be nonchalant, but I noticed.
Rose looked from The Doctor to me, her gaze flitting from my ring to my face. Her mouth opened slightly, she looked shocked, "oh."
The Doctor nodded, eyebrows raised, as if to say 'took you long enough'.
Rose approached me and offered me a hand- I was still sitting down at this point- which I gladly took. "Nice to meet you," she said, smiling at me.
I bit back a laugh and shook her hand, if only she knew how much I had idolized her back home, "it's a pleasure, Rose Tyler."

"what do you think of this? will it do?"
Rose had changed into denim dungarees and a pink t-shirt. I had also decided to take advantage of the TARDIS wardrobes, as I was still in my black dress, and I didn't have any shoes. The wardrobe had a plethora of options, shirts, dresses, and pants of all colors. She even had outfits so strange that I could only assume they were from an alien planet. It was easy to get overwhelmed by all the options, but I quickly found what I needed. Black jeans, a soft blue jumper, and some high top converse. As I changed, I found a small gold chain, it looked as if it had been laid out for me. At the end of it was a small pocket watch- it looked exactly like my fathers watch. I hesitantly reached out and touched it. Something about it just felt.. right. I glanced around, making sure no one was watching, and quickly slipped it over my neck, tucking it into my shirt. I don't know why, but I got the overwhelming feeling that no one was supposed to see it.
Back to the present moment, The Doctor glanced at us both and frowned, "In the late 1970s? You'd be better off in a bin bag." My expression fell, I tugged on my shirt self consciously, The Doctor didn't seem to notice, as he was putting a CD into the TARDIS console. "Hold on, listen to this."
I winced as loud punk music blared through the console room. "Ian Dury and the Blockheads," The Doctor said, noticing my expression. I raised my eyebrows and nodded, as if to silently say 'I know'.
"They were number one in 1979." I said, smirking at The Doctor's shock. He seemed disappointed that I had beat him to that fun fact.
Rose snorted at the two of us, "you're a punk," she said, shaking her head at The Doctor's antics.
The Doctor in turn grinned, "it's good to be a lunatic."
"That's what you are," I agreed, smiling.
Rose nodded along with me, "a big old punk with a bit of rockabilly thrown in."
The Doctor raised his eyebrows, "would you like to see him?"
"How d'you mean?" Rose frowned, "in concert?"
"What else is a Tardis for?" He exclaimed grandly, "I can take you to the Battle of Trafalgar, the first anti-gravity Olympics, Caesar crossing the Rubicon," He paused, grinning cheekily, "or Ian Dury at the Top Rank, Sheffield, England, Earth, 21st November, 1979. What do you think?"
I snorted, scuffing my converse against the metal grates we were standing on, "boys and their cars."
The Doctor recoiled, looking as if I had just said I hated babies, "oi!"
Rose laughed, quickly changing the subject, and looking pointedly at The Doctor, "Sheffield it is."
My eyes widened as I suddenly remembered what was going to happen next, I gripped the TARDIS rail as The Doctor jerked a lever down, "hold on tight!" I cried out as the TARDIS rocked around us.
"1979!" I cheered, happy that we made it out alive.
"Hell of a year," The Doctor chimed in, "China invades Vietnam. The Muppet Movie."
I gasped excitedly, "Love that film!"
"Margaret Thatcher," The Doctor continued as we headed down towards the TARDIS doors, "Skylab falls to Earth, with a little help from me. Nearly took off my thumb."
I rolled my eyes as The Doctor continued to whine about his thumb, but my feelings of mild annoyance quickly turned into terror as we walked out of the TARDIS only to be met with a wall of rifles, loaded and pointed at us.
Ready to fire.
