THE ACCIDENT

You played basketball ever since you can remember. It was all you wanted to do and was the only thing you did. You were always at the top of your class in every subject, because you knew if you weren't you wouldn't be able to play. It was the beginning of your first year at Shiratorizawa Academy. You were recruited by the coach at the school. Off the bat, you were deemed captain and the Ace of the girl's basketball team. You were ecstatic being placed so high in your first year. Everyone in the basketball scene knew who you were even at such a young age. Even though you were short, you made it up with your speed, agility, reflex, and intellect. Since you started middle school you were given the name hummingbird.

You were popular, smart, pretty, and well off in the financial department. You got along with everyone, your teachers always said you were the ideal student, and as an only child, your parents loved you to death, buying you everything you ever wanted. Your life was perfect, until the accident.

One day in late September you were practicing on your own at a nearby park where you lived. You were doing side steps and shooting some hoops. It started to cloud over the sky turning a light grey, but you didn't think much about it. You always played outside when it rained. Then it started pouring, getting all wet and your (H/L) (H/C) hair started getting stuck to your face, but you didn't want to stop even though you were starting to freeze. Nothing could stop you when you were in the zone. The ground was slippery and puddles started to form on the court, you weren't paying attention, so when you scored you quickly went to do a side step. You felt something in your leg pop. You slid against the pavement. All you could feel was the pain. From your leg the scrapes on your arms and hands. You were screaming in agony, you couldn't get up at all. You could only see the raindrops coming down on you. Screaming and crying some guys came running up to you.

" Bokuto go call an ambulance!"

" Kurro here's my jacket put it under her head!"

"Okikwa, here take the umbrella!"

At this point, you were drifting in and out of consciousness. From the pain, the coldness and the fatigue starting to hit you. The guys surrounding you all became blurs of colors. Time wasn't something you felt at this point. You could only hear sirens in the distance. Seeing white bright lights. Then nothing.

You soon woke up in a bed, you didn't recognize your surroundings. Then you heard beeping and murmurs. Your eyes fully adjusted to the light and objects around you. You saw your parents sitting in the corner silently with a gloomy expression plastered to their faces. You sat up. Pain surging through your leg, your arms and hands throbbing, you felt a tug on your arm only to see you were hooked up to an IV.

"Mom Dad, what happened?" You said in a panic, quickly turning your head making your (H/L) (H/C) hair whip.

Your mother spoke in a kind gentle voice.

"Honey you slipped when you were playing outside and got hurt really badly."

That's when the doctor came in.

"(L/N) (F/N)."

"Yes, sir."

"I've got some good news and some bad news. The good news is that your scrapes and cuts aren't serious and you didn't suffer a concussion........... The bad news is that you tore your ACL. We performed surgery, but you are going to need to see a physical therapist."

Your (E/C) eyes widened in dread. Only to have your heart drop. You knew an ACL injury was what causes an athlete's career to end. You didn't even start your career, and yet it ended already. All you wanted to do was cry shout but you couldn't. Nothing came out. Only to slump back into the bed only being able to stare at the ceiling blankly. Your father started speaking in a hushed voice.
