(One morning Clark entered the Watchtower and walked down the hall..but he stopped in his tracks when he saw them)
(Bruce was talking to Diana and something told Clark it wasn't about Justice League business)
Bruce: "So I just backed away and said okay Harley I'll let you go this one time."
Diana: "You let her go?"
Bruce: "Well she seems to have changed..probably something to do with her new friends."
Diana: "Oh Bruce..who knew the Batman could be so compassionate. Especially towards criminals."
Bruce: "I mean I let her off with a stern warning. It's not like I'll be invited to her birthday party any time soon."
Diana: "Well if you do.. be sure to let me know?" (Diana giggled)
(Bruce shook his head but grinned back at her)
(Clark had been watching just a few feet away the whole time and neither of them had noticed him so Clark cleared his throat..just a little louder than he meant to)
(Diana turned and smiled warmly at him)
Diana: "Oh Clark! Hi."
Clark: "Hey Diana. Bruce. Sorry I didn't mean to.. sneak up on you guys like that."
Bruce: "You didn't. I knew you were there."
Clark: "..oh. The whole time?"
(Bruce did his trademark grin)
Diana: "Um..so how are you Clark? Having a good week?"
Clark: "Yeah it's been going okay thanks. How about..?"
Bruce: "That's great Clark but I really need to get going."
Diana: "So soon?"
Bruce: "Yeah. Alfred's calling. You know how he is. See you."
(Bruce walked away on his phone leaving Clark and Diana standing awkwardly in the hallway)
Diana: "..so...how are things? How's Lois?"
Clark: "Oh she's okay. I think we're just going to stay friends though."
Diana: "Oh really? She seemed to be kind of..you know..interested.."
Clark: "Yeah I guess. I don't really think it would've worked out anyway."
Diana: "..no? Why do you say that?"
Clark: "I don't know..I guess I just..don't see her that way."
Diana: "Hmm. Yeah I understand. Love. It is quite complicated isn't it?"
(Clark chuckled quietly) "Yeah. You have no idea."
Diana: "..oh I don't know. I think I might know a thing or two..."
(Clark's breath caught in his throat when he saw the way Diana was looking at him, for a few moments they just shared a meaningful look... then Diana smiled)
Diana: "I should probably go check on the others. Don't want Barry clearing out the fridge again." (She chuckled)
(Clark managed a quick smile but internally his heart was pounding)
Diana: "Talk later Clark."
(She smiled again and turned to go leaving Clark alone in stunned silence, wondering how he'd ever gather the courage to tell her..)
(Little did Clark know Bruce had watched their exchange from around the corner, with a dark look in his eyes)
