Beautiful Tragedy

Chapter 26

I know, it's been a while since I've last written, but that's because I've been so busy and forgetful so I'm going to try and make an overview.

It's been so long I don't even know where to start. James and I have been together for a while and yeah of course it had its ups and downs as all other couples. As everyone else, we have figured out a way to get past it.

For our first year anniversary, James got me tickets to the Arizona Cardinals game against the Denver Bronchos. So far, definitely one of the best gifts ever given to me. He's met my mom and dad and I've met his family, and they are really supportive of our relationship. I know seems odd that our parents like us together but what can I say, were respectful of their wishes and their boundaries.

Don't get me wrong, we've had our messes. Like last year, my lung collapsed and I was in a coma for a few days. James stood there by my bedside every day of it. And I can honestly say I'd do the same. He loves me and I love him too and nothing can get in the way of that.

December 31st, James' and mines 3 year anniversary. He decided to take me on a vacation not too far from our city. But it was far enough to where I couldn't just walk back. Although Were not far it's nice, We have a view of the ocean and there's a park across from the hotel.

For our anniversary I got James the pair of Jordan's he wanted and a Michael Khors watch. I hope he liked it. I didn't know exactly how I was supposed to give it to him. He knew I was dorky and so he probably knows I was going to try and make it special.

I walked into the kitchen to see a note left there with my name on it. Oh god, probably another one of James' fancy stunts again. I couldn't help but smile that he always likes to surprise me. He's such a goof, but he's my goof. I opened the letter.

I smiled and walked to the bedroom to see a teddy bear with a note in its arms. James is apparently sending me on a scavenger hunt. Always likes to play games. I laughed to myself and red the next clue.

"Too cold, and too small to live in, but an excellent place for storage."

He was making this too easy. It's the refrigerator. I walked back towards the kitchen and opened it. I couldn't find a note. Hmm... Oh wait the fricken freezer is smaller. I opened it and read the note.

"A place of escape and warmth is where you will go."

"The fuck? Where the hell would I go beside the damn kitchen." I said out loud before laughing because I was talking to myself.

I sat on the counter with a banana thinking. I couldn't fricken think of it so I called Shiann.

*ring ring*

"Hello?" She answered .

"Hey girl. I know we haven't talked in a while because I've been a little busy with James." I said and my face softened.

"No I get it. Y'all be liking to do the whole "frickle frackle" " she said and I immediately burst out laughing.

"That's not even Close... Well maybe. " I laughed." But I need your help."

"With?"

"Well James has been sending me on this whole scavenger hunt thing with clues written in weird ways. And I'm stuck on this one." I laughed "a place of escape and warmth is where you will go."

"You are so dumb" she giggled at her insult.

"Oh shut up and just tell me." I said calmly

" it's the bathroom. And I want pictures of whatever he's planning at the end."

" sure thang girl. Thank you! Your the best" I made kissy noises through the phone and hung up before I walked to the bathroom.

I read the note.

"My beautiful beautiful Lexi." I laughed because that was the name only he calls me, everyone else calls me lex or Alex. "Your beauty shine from within. For this one I don't want you to think of what it means but to do what it says. Now I need you to take a nice warm shower. I've set a towel and the shampoo I love much out for you. Then go to the room for your next instructions."

I sighed and took my shower. The shampoo smelled amazing. It smelled like green apples. I love green apples so much. I got out and dried myself before wrapping myself in the towel and walking to the room. I looked for a note which was sitting on the bed.

"Hey baby. Hope you enjoyed the shower. Now go to the closet and pull out the big black box. Open it for the clothes you are going to wear and new instructions. "

I did as I was told and put the box on the bed and opened it. I pulled out the outfit. It was a black and white crop top long sleeve, a black skirt, my favorite silver belt, long black socks, a black vest, and my comfortable high heels. And then I saw the note...

"My princess, your gorgeous in everything you wear, but I thought for once you could wear what I wanted. I tried to make it comfortable so good luck. When your done, straighten your hair and only put on a little eyeliner and mascara. The next note will be on the kitchen table."

I sighed. This was taking longer Thani originally though it would. I put the outfit on, which may I say, I look cute in, and I finally got to makeup and hair. When I finished, I walked to the kitchen feeling refreshed. The note was waiting for me by a tangerine.

"Eat this and then walk down the street to the park. Follow the road to the baseball field but remember my darling, the journey is just as great as the destination."

"Oh god thank you. It's the end. " I said out loud because Jesus I'm tired. I picked up my keys and a room key and walked to the park. When I got there I found the small road that led to the baseball field. I started walking and I noticed drawings on the sidewalk.

The first one said "November 15th, 2013 I saw spaghetti get thrown all over you" and then there was a picture of spaghetti painted on the bottom. I kept walking and I saw the second picture.

"August 2014 my brother broke your heart." A picture of a cracked heart was drawn. Not too far off was another picture.

"August 26th you showed up at my house a mess but I took care of you anyway. "

"September 4th 2014 I started to pick up the mess my brother made." There wasn't a drawing but I got to the next one feet i turned a corner.

"September 10th I finally started to get you to trust me." And to the next one I was already smiling.

"September 25th 2014 you began to fall for me "

"October 3rd 2014 you finally admitted you liked me. We went on our yogurt date. "

I smiled and smiled and I felt so happy.

"December 2nd 2014 #frickle frackle." He drew the emoji with the tears laughing face.

I shook my head and laughed as the sun went down

"December 31st one year anniversary."

"Our journey was so long I couldn't write anymore, but I love you so much. Now walk onto the baseball field with the blindfold on. Jake will guide you there." Jake was one of our friends from college. He suddenly walked up with a blindfold and smiled at me. It was dark so I was kinda nervous but still excited.

"Do you know what he's doing?" I asked

"I do but I'm not telling you. " he laughed before putting my blindfold on.

He walked me toward where I think was the field. He put me in place and said when I count to 3 I'm going to take off the blindfold.

"3" he took it off and adjusted my eyes but nothing was there. Suddenly the lights went off and there was a glow of fire behind me.

"Oh my god!" I said to jake as I took in what I just saw.
