"why don't you hit me with your best shot? fire away"

[16]
I woke up to sunlight streaming through the curtains and Edmund sprawled out beside me.
I was still in my gown from last night and I moved quickly, taking a robe from a hook and ducking behind a screen and pulling off the party dress, wrapping the comfy robe around me.
A maid knocked on the door, "Your Majesty, breakfast is in half an hour. Would you like anything?"
I opened the door, gesturing her into the bathroom. "Do you mind starting a bath for me?" I asked.
"No problem, your Majesty," she curtsied before hurrying to the bathtub and starting the water.
I walked back into my bedroom, finding Edmund up and stretching in my bed.
"Morning," Edmund grinned, dragging a hand through his messy bedhead.
"Oh, for Aslan's sake, you smell awful," I scrunched up my nose after I kissed him on the cheek.
He grinned boyishly at me, "It's the alcohol."
"That reminds me, we're having breakfast with the others," I pulled him up from the bed.
"How are you up?" He groaned, standing up.
"Because I'm the best," I winked, pulling him to the door. "I'll see you at breakfast, go get changed."
"Are you kicking me out, Cads?" He feigned pain, holding a hand over his heart.
I smiled at his antics, kissing him before opening the door. "See you in half an hour!"
He beamed at me, waving before running down the hall to his room.
"Your Majesty," the maid said from behind. "The bath's ready."
"Thank you," I turned to her.
"Is there anything else I have to do for your Majesty?" She asked, bowing her head.
"Nothing else," I grinned. "Thank you!"
She curtsied one more time before she excused herself, backing out of the room and closing the door.
I sighed in bliss as I entered the steamy room, soaking into the hot water.
After the shower, I took a Persian green silk gown from the closet and changed into it quickly.
I smoothed it down. It was another one of the gorgeous works of the Narnians, it was flatter in the front and had more volume on the back. The scalloped back showed off some skin and the boatneck neckline pulled the dress together nicely. I fitted the long sleeves along my arms, shimmying into the stretchy fabric and putting on a pair of matching heels before stepping out of my room and hurrying down the halls to breakfast.
I wished every person I passed a 'good morning' and entered the private dining hall. "Good morning!" I beamed.
"Morning, Cady," Peter smiled at me at the head of the table, Susan and Caspian flanked his sides and they were deep in their conversation.
Lucy waved at me, "Good morning!"
I sat down next to Caspian and began pouring myself a cup of coffee. It smelled like heaven and I proceeded to drop two sugar cups into the cup.
I took a long sip when Edmund joined us, "Morning people!"
"You're in a good mood," Peter quirked an eyebrow.
"I had a great night," Ed collapsed on the chair beside me, already piling up his plate with food.
"Oh do tell," Caspian looked at me, a smirk on his face.
"Tell you what?" I rolled my eyes, piling three pancakes on to my plate.
"What happened last night?" Susan leaned towards us.
"Nothing!" Edmund exclaimed, stuffing his face with food.
Peter turned to me and Caspian, "Aslan wants you to gather up the people, he said he has something to do."
We nodded, "Will do after breakfast."
"Thanks," Peter smiled, pushing his chair back. "Com'on Susan, we have to meet Aslan."
