Chapter 5

Chapter 5: Endless Stone

Angela was outside getting some more wood when I woke up. I walked up to her. "Angela I think for safety we should go mining together." "Okay let me finish this tree." I made a picaxe and sword for her. When she came back in I said "Here's a stone pickaxe and a sword." "Thanks what's the sword for if were in a cave?" "The monsters can be in caves." "Well what are we waiting for lets go." We walked down the mine until we found the cave. Then I showed her what coal looked like. "Well we need to find something down here other than coal." "So lets get looking." I pulled out torches and placed them along the walls as we walked. We just seemed to be in an endless corridor of stone. "Am I the only other human you've seen Alex?" "Yeah I've been alone the entire time." "Well since I got to this place I've been waiting hoping to find someone else." I turned around and noticed that I could barely see the exit. "Wow maybe this place does go on forever." "No look theres a light." We rushed towards it while still placing torches. When we got there I got Angela by the arm just in time. "Woah don't fall in it looks to be lava." "Thanks." "Well we need to be careful you don't wanna end up where you started." We sat their for a minute to look for any minerals. "AHHH" Angela started to fall off! I grabbed her hand while she was falling. I turned around and there was a zombie. He must have been the one who pushed her in. I sliced across his chest making a deep gorge, then I stabbed his chest. "Angela I got you." I dropped my sword in order to grab her with my other hand. I started to pull her up. Once she was up she said "Thanks we need to watch our backs more, that was too close." "Lets head back up." We walked back up in silence knowing that she had almost died. When we got back up we heard a baa. "Is that a sheep?" When we walked outside there were six sheep. "We could get wool from these to make beds." "Do you know how to make shears Angela?" "I can make some iron ones." "Alright lets sleep then go to the cave in that hill over there." I pointed towards the cave the creeper came from. "Alright." We went inside and slept again. When we woke we were ready to go mining. "Alright lets go." We walked over to the cave made sure that there were no monsters. "Were running low on torches so I'm just going to carry one." "Well lets see what kind of treasures are in here." It was like last time only this time it had a slight curve and going slightly downwards. About 25 meters I saw a glimmer on one of the walls. I said "What's that?" "Don't know." When we got close I could make out details. It had a slight brownish tint to it. It was just a bunch of flakes like an ore of sorts. So we got over there and I started to mine it. When it was done I noticed their was a bunch behind it. "Let me mine all this and then we'll go see if we can smelt it." We went back up to the surface after that. "Angela This might be Iron.'' We mined what we believed to be Iron in silence hoping we wouldn't be attacked while our backs were turned. When we turned to walk back up I noticed a glint of gold at the end of the hall. I made its position a mental note. I didn't tell Angela because it was going to be a surprise. When we got back up I said "We should expand our house." "Alright but were out of wood." "Then lets make it out of cobblestone." We ended up making a mansion of sorts then going under ground to make a basement. While we were building we had a total of 20 Iron to smelt.
