The day goes by as the students train for the upcoming Sports Festival. Izuku took this opportunity to take photos of key areas in the arena for Kurogiri. Walking along the empty stands Deku imagines all the heroes this would fill and all the panic he could cause. His heart was pounding fast as all the excitement was making him smile ear to ear. Hundreds of heroes, hundreds of opportunities, and no one would be the wiser.
Getting in was easy, he simply told the teachers that he wanted to quell is nerves by seeing the stadium so he could get a feel for what it would be like. Do image training of having hundreds of people judge your every move and evaluate your capabilities on being a future hero.
Running his hand against the seats Izuku made his way down to the field and jumped down onto the grass, he looked up at the stands and suddenly had a bitter taste in his mouth. Something about having heroes weaker than him looking down from on high was really irritating. Izuku soon left for the entrance once he snapped a few more pictures.
Shigaraki happens to be waiting for Izuku outside the stadium, wearing a simple black shirt. Seeing Shigaraki Izuku's heart began to race wondering why the teacher here. Since most students were finishing up their training for the day Shigaraki decided to check up on Izuku.
"Would you like to grab something to eat?"
"Pardon?" Izuku couldn't help but be dumbfounded, why was his teacher wanting to spend time with him.
"Would you like to grab something to eat," Shigaraki repeated.
"Sure?" Izuku didn't know how to respond to this sort of invitation.
"Alright, get changed and meet me back here."
Izuku ran back to the school to change and met with Shigaraki. The two didn't talk, and walking together made them both uncomfortable for different reasons.
"You don't need to be so tense, I think after some food we could talk," Shigaraki led them to a fast food joint. They both ordered a burger and sat down in a corner so their conversation wouldn't be overheard.
Izuku noticed that Shigaraki had a finger on each hand covered by a bandage so his quirk wouldn't accidentally activate. Izuku only took a few bites of the burger, being with Shigaraki made him tense and was ruining any appetite.
"I've read up on the records we received after you enrolled and comparing it to your current actions has me worried."
"Is there something I'm doing wrong?" Izuku asked trying to be a good student.
"No, but I have a feeling there is more to you than what you're showing. Like me, you lost your parents when you were young. I want to help you so you don't take the wrong path when becoming a hero."
"What do you mean?"
"Using loss as a motivator causes more pain. You shouldn't fight for what can't be changed but fight for what can be. As heroes, we can save more lives and prevent more people from dying. It may seem like it's the same thing since your just fighting villains, however, the reason behind it is just as important."
"What happened to you when you lost your parents?"
"All Might found and saved me, I dunno where I would be without him. That's why I'm hoping to help you as he helped me."
Izuku didn't respond and took another bite of his burger. He really didn't like Shigaraki, it wasn't just a feeling but a deduction Izuku had now come to. Despite sometimes playing the fool when discussing time travel, Izuku was more cunning then he led All for One to believe.
Why did All for One choose Izuku? Simple he must have had some connection All Might in that alternate timeline. Anyone would have been a better choice, but Izuku could be used as a tool against All Might.
Why did All Might use time travel? Probably to save someone, most likely Shigaraki. If All for One needed to mention All Might using time travel as the reason Izuku's life was a mess, then it would also mean Izuku wasn't originally All for One's heir. This would mean both All Might and All for One preferred Shigaraki over himself. Shigaraki was the original heir of All for One, and the one All Might wanted to save over Izuku.
"I'll think about it Sensei, but I have to get going. Can we continue this another time?"
"Of course Izuku, please come talk to me whenever you need."
Once they parted ways Izuku immediately headed to the station but got off a few stops early. "I'm only the replacement, the tool that's used when they couldn't get what they wanted." Izuku was angry and needed a way to vent, he slipped into the alleys looking for someone who he could use and soon bumped into some bum.
"*hic* watch where you going brat,"
Izuku couldn't help but smile as he quickly grabbed the man "it's your unlucky day," Izuku quickly activated Todoroki's fire quirk and lit the man ablaze.
The man had a worthless quirk making his body blocky, but looking like a bunch of blocks stacked together wasn't going to stop him from being burned alive. When the man tried to swing at Izuku, Izuku merely backed away. The man was already burning and Izuku was backing off further into the alley to simply watch. Even with the screams, the City after school hours was drowning out most of the noise. Just in case Izuku began to watch from a distance until the man collapsed and died.
Izuku quickly left the scene and was headed back to the hideout. On the way, Izuku may have relieved some stress but still felt depressed. Since he was just the backup, maybe dangling Shigaraki's corpse would prove he was the superior one. Sadly Izuku couldn't linger on these thoughts any longer. The Sports Festival was only days away and he needed to be prepared.
