RECAP--

mister all american cracked a smile at the last comment. daphne cheered silently. "the name's jason, ma'am. dunno my last name yet." jason said. "and while i'd absolutely love to continue this exchange, i do believe the whole camp is staring at us now."

--

daphne looked over his shoulder and saw that he was indeed right, the whole camp was definitely staring at them, jaws almost hitting the ground. even drew tanaka's, the girl who was almost always cool and composed, and mean, was absolutely flabbergasted. it brought a smile to her lips. then she realized that the attention was directed towards her, and blushed a scarlet red. she also heard a chuckle from the much taller (and more handsome) boy and she turned her attention back to him and glared, though it didn't have quite the effect she wanted it to because he just smiled at her humorously.

annabeth looked at her inquisitively for a second before shooting her a 'we'll talk about this later' look and shaking her head. "i bet chiron will know what that is." she muttered before looking back up at daphne, who was uncomfortably standing around and blushing. "daph could you please escort jason to the big house for me? i need to show piper around."

so that's what the native american girl's name is. okay, she thought before nodding and giving a hesitant thumbs up in her friends direction. "sure, annie. will do." she then turned to jason, addressing him. "c'mon mister all american, let's go meet our activities director."

———

the walk to the big house was... awkward to say the least. neither of them knew what to say, so instead daphne looked around at the camp she'd know for so much of her life. it was beautiful, not in a luxurious way, but a sincere and simple way. even the lava wall seemed to have it's own sort of beauty, which was strange to most others because it was mainly a huge source of pain.

the two of them continued to walk in silence before jason, aka mister all american, opened his mouth to speak. "i feel like i've met you before. are you sure we've never crossed paths before today?" he asked, raising a brow at me.

she turned to look at him, shaking her head and sighing. "i don't remember ever meeting you, so i probably haven't because you're pretty memorable mister." she said, somewhat teasingly. "but i do feel like we have met before, i don't know where or when, but i swear i've seen you before. i can feel it."

the conversation fell flat after that and they continued to walk in a slightly less awkward fashion towards the big house. the big house was a big, baby blue painted manor, it had a furnished lawn and a nice porch where you could often see mr. d and chiron playing pinochle at. when they got there, jason suddenly stopped right in front of it with a stony expression.

"i am not supposed to be here," he said, still looking at the house with sharp eyes.

daphne looked at him for a second, confused at why he would say that. then she felt something, like she shouldn't have gotten out of her cabin this morning. her body went kind of rigid, her hands raising to her head, almost as if she had had a headache. she heard a voice calling out to her.

"free me," the voice said, "free me or the world will burn."

then she heard hooves, chiron clip-clopped towards them from the porch. it must've been an odd sight for him because he saw one of the longest campers with her head in her hands and then a new camper backing away from him as quickly as he could. chiron started to smile at them before his face paled. he addressed daphne first, rushing towards her.
