RECAP——
"rachel what happened?" daphne asked the redhead (rachel, jason's brain supplied).
"i think..." rachel started, before gulping. "i think i may have killed her."
———
jason and rachel put piper on the couch while annabeth rushed down the hall to get a med kit. piper was still breathing, but she wouldn't wake up. she seemed to be in some kind of coma. daphne stood hovering at piper's side. her mind was moving frantically, trying to figure out how to wake up this poor girl.
"we've got to heal her," jason insisted. "there's a way, right?"
daphne stepped forward, gently pushing jason out of the way before speaking softly. "there might be a way, but... but i'm not sure if i can pull it off." she kneeled down besides piper, grasping her hand. "my mother once told me that music can heal what other things cannot. i assume that no med kit or medicine can heal this, her mind has been... entangled with. rachel i need to know exactly what happened at the hera cabin."
"i wish i knew, daph," she said. "as soon as i got to camp, i had a premonition about the hera cabin. i went inside. annabeth and piper came in while i was there. we talked, and then—i just blanked out. annabeth said i spoke in a different voice."
"a prophecy?" chiron asked.
"no. the spirit of delphi comes from within. i know how that feels. this felt like it was long distance, like someone forcefully tried to speak through me."
daphne heaved a sigh, nodding at all of them. "it was probably—"
she however did not get to finish her sentence because annabeth bursted in with a leather pouch (the med kit, her brain (un)helpfully supplied). then annabeth started speaking like rapidfire. saying that rachel spoke in the voice of an older woman, that it was different from anything she'd seen before, that rachel had grabbed piper by the shoulders and told her—
"to free her from a prison?" jason and daphne said in unison.
annabeth looked at both of them, confused and a little alarmed. "how did you know that?" she asked, brows furrowed.
"we also... had a visit from an entity that went similar to that." daphne said. "though now can i get back to healing piper? i think she's been gone long enough."
she looked back towards chiron, who nodded solemnly while making a three-fingered gesture over his heart, like a ward against evil. after gaining his permission she started singing, softly at first. it sounded a bit hesitant, but her voice. oh her voice. it sounded like honey dripping down smoothly, it brushed against everyone like a down pillow.
daphne tried to pour as much healing into her song, she was singing a popular ballad her father had sung and probably wrote, the lyrics were in english and she was about sixty percent sure it was in relation to her (the message he released with the song was "to my little muse who went away too soon. i'm sorry we didn't have time together." for crying out loud). it brought her back to her life before all of this, the memories of her father. little by little color returned to piper's face, her breathing strengthened and steadied. daphne grew more confident with her song, projecting her voice more than before and making sure her message was clear. heal her.

"daddy look at what i can do!" a four year old daphne said to her father, who was chatting up some model who seemed amused by the interruption. her father had thrown a party that night, in celebration of his new hit song.
