Chapter 3

Jay's p.o.v

It's been fifteen years since Kai got put in kryptarium prison. We're going today to get hem. Lloyd leads the way the Noble's office. He knocks, walking in. "Hey, Noble, we're here for Kai." Lloyd says. Noble goes wide eyed, I don't like that. "Y'all are five years too late. His husband of five years now payed his bail." Noble says. "Come again." I say. Noble sighs, he stands, looking out the windows. "When he got here, he reunited with his ex. Over the course of eight years, he and Danny, his cell mate, rekindled their love. When Danny got out, he promised Kai he'd visit twice if three times a week, and for two years, he kept that promise. Five years ago, Danny gained the money to pay Kai's bail and he's been free sence. He and Danny married two weeks after he got out. They even have twins together, how, I won't say." Noble explains. All of us have mixed looks of shock and disbelief, Nya the worse. "Any idea where he is." Nya asks. Noble shakes his head "That's the only thing I don't know about hem, but I will say this. If you see hem, it'll be on his terms." Noble said, going to the failing cabinet. We turn and leave.

Kai's p.o.v

Holding Kiara by the hand, she walks beside me. Danny has Dani on his shoulders, she giggles. We go to Chens noddle restaurant. Halfway through eatting, Danny nudges my arm. Looking, a fortune cookie is on my plate. Creaking it open, I read the fortune

"Master Chen has personally invited you to participate in his tournament of elements. Secrecy is of the utmost importance. Tell no one, or suffer the consequences. Meet on the pier at midnight and leave your weapons behind."

"The fuck." I say. Danny cups my hand. "Go, I have no dought the ninja will be there. Show them how strong you've gotten. And if something comes up, you have your necklace." Danny says. I touch the choker, he gave it to me on our one year anniversary. It doubles as an SOS. If I touch and press the Dragon charm on it, it sends out an emergency signal to the gang. I nod, we leave. Packing my bag, I kiss the three and head to the docks. I lean on the rails, waiting as other masters come. Getting close to midnight, the ninja walk up, Nya dressed in a gi. I'm unrecognizable from thirteen years ago. A boat comes, I clime on. The ninja walk on and Garmadon stoles away. Sitting on a create, I have them in full view. Garmadon talks about the other masters and a hand rests on my shoulder. Looking, I see Neuro, he knows about my past. "Glad to see a friendly face." He said. I chuckle, we bro hug. "Come, want you to meet some people." He goes to the back of the ship, I see other masters. "I'm Griffin Turner. Speed." "Karloff, metal." "Tox, poison." "Paleman, light." "And I'm Shade, master of shadows." The five says. "Kai Fowl, was Smith until five years ago. I'm master of fire." I said. "A friend of Neuro's, is a friend of ours." Tox said. I smile, a real one like I do around Danny. "Me and my team, the Assassin's, have read up on Chen. He's a big crime boss. But, we haven't been able to bring hem in. All we know is he's gearing for something." I said. All six look scared. "If anyone has this mark." I pull my shirt up, reviling my anacandri tattoo on my right shoulder. "But it'll be on the left, they are not friendly." I say. Pulling my shirt back down, Tox holds her hand out, karloff, Griffin, Shade, Paleman, Neuro join in. I rest mine on top, my bracelet splits, forming around their wrists. "Welcome to the Assassin's.

"I've heard of y'all, but what exactly do y'all do." Griffin says. "We hunt down criminals, elementals or normal, and take them down." I explain. "That's a group I'd gladly be apart of." Neuro said, the others nodding. The boat lands, we walk off, Clouse talking but I zone hem out. Lloyd catches my eye, I look forward as his brows crease. Garmadon looks, he winks at me, he's the only one I trust to know it's me. We come into the main room, we kneel. I kneel beside Garmadon and Neuro as Chen comes in. "Ah, welcome one and all. This tournament will be a fun one. The last one standing will win gold and the staff of power. Now, these are the line ups." Chen moves aside, a gong with the anacandri on it splits, brackets on it. Eight on one side, eight on the other. I grin as I see my first opponent is Cole. Neuro leans in "Show hem who's boss." He said. "Oh, I will." I say. "The first three rounds will be held tomorrow morning, get some rest." Chen says. We are showed our rooms, I'm between Neuro and Griffin. The next morning, I get breakfast, eatting it, it's not half bad but, not as good as Danny's.

Cole's p.o.v

We're all looking at each other, Kai's element had been called, but, I haven't seen hem. Garmadon has a look in his eye "You know where he's at, don't cha." Jay says. Garmadon sips is drink, pulling away for a minute "Betrayal can lead someone down a dark road. Kai took that hurt and turned it into something else. Y'all think he murdered that mother and baby, y'all are wrong. He was with a friend that night at the bar. The friend got drunk and Kai took hem home, staying at his place. Kai was on the other side of town when the murder happened and I know this cause of this." Garmadon pulls his phone out, pulling his messages up. Tapping Kai's name, he slides the phone our way. The text is timed ten-thirdty-five. It reads that Kai is at the friends house and was spending the night. Garmadon takes his phone back, placing it in his robe pocket.

"Now explain how Kai could have gotten to the mother's house, when the drive takes an hour from the friends apartment. Kai had no choice but to take the heat cause all the evidence pointed at hem. He suffered ten years in jail, ten years he can never get back. I'll be shocked if Kai doesn't break a bone in your body Cole, y'all hurt hem that bad. Watch your back, he fights from the shadows." Garmadon warns the bell rings, four people walk past, the first gives me the eat shit and die look.

I look at Garmadon "that was Kai, wasn't it." I ask. Garmadon only nods "I wish you luck, I really do." He said and I gulp.
