Ava was watching him go away with tears in her eyes. A stream of tears cascaded down her cheeks.  It felt like the flood gates broke open and she sobbed uncontrollably.

She tried to stand back up but her legs gave out. She stumbled on her way and a sharp pain shoot out through her right foot. It was bleeding. She didn't know how it started bleeding. Her whole attention was on Casper.

She looked down at her feet. There was the first aid box lying there.

"Oh Casper, I don't need this." She hiccuped. But nevertheless, she picked up the box from the floor. It is given to me by him.

"I would be sated with a little place in the corner of your heart." She broke down and became a sobbing mess.

Her ash-blond hair was sticking on her face. The dried out tears had left ghastly lines on her plump creamy cheeks. She sat down on the bonnet of a car and removed her heels to inspect the wound.

She had spent the last twelve years of her life loving Casper.

Love doesn't fade away easily.

She was prompted many times to end this fruitless longing, but only a glimpse of his back would make all her resolve dissolve in a puddle.

Love was not easy and she had learned it very hard.

But how did it happen? It was a long story.

Casper was her best friend Ash's teammate. He was a new transfer student in their class. His family had relocated from Hudson to New York.

Apparently, he was older but the Principal had put him in junior class.

He stood tall against the average school boys. He had a square face, broad shoulders and a regal appearance. His raven black hair spoke of authority, elegance, and sophistication. His chiseled features, sharp jawline and thin luscious lips made it hard to avert eyes from him.

It was Casper that made her aware of her femininity. She would imagine the feeling of his lips on hers and the taste of his luscious lips. He was her crush and first love.

She would match her class schedule with his and coincidentally appear at the places he stopped by.

They were indeed their colorful days of youth.

Ava was applying antiseptic on her feet. Her feet had blisters from the tight heels and she winced each time when the antiseptic touched the fresh wounds.

Tears threatened to fall down her eyes.

"Did he really never care for me? Not even a bit?" She asked the question to herself.

The question was answered though. Casper made sure of that.

He never shied away from expressing his hatred towards her. Her love was always met with his hate and harshness.

He was never an extrovert who spoke his heart loud but he was polite to all. He would lend his hand to anyone who needed help.

Nobody in the whole world would describe him as cruel or ruthless.

But he was; for Ava.

Ava, Ash, and Casper were good friends until a month before their graduation. He never talked much but his silence spoke volumes to Ava.

They had a perfect mutual understanding.

He would read his books in the library and she would silently sit by his side doodling comic characters in her notebook. They would sit side by side during school and lunch and their relationship was on pretty good notes.
