(y/n) visits joshua on set for their anniversary, but he forgot. joshua does everything he can to make it up to her with a little help.

"i'll see you tomorrow, frankie!" joshua yelled as he climbed up the steps to his trailer. opening the door he was immediately hit with balloons. "what the he—" he started, but saw his girlfriend across from him with a travel bag and gift bags.

"(y/n)!" he said rushing to hug her. "what are you doing here? not that i'm complaining. and what's all this?" he asked pushing a balloon lightly. (y/n)'s face dropped. he forgot.

"you really don't know what today is?" she replied, anger laced in her voice. she sat down on the cushioned couch. joshua looked up at the balloons and down at the gift bags. oh, no. how could he forget? he didn't call. he didn't text. he didn't plan.

(y/n) awkwardly shifted and stood up again. "i should uhm. go visit dara. she was the only other person who knew i was coming today." she said trying to head to the door. joshua grabbed her arm. "bub, im sorry. please, i've been so busy with filming." he tried as she looked at him.

joshua had moved his arm to her hand and held it tight. her grip being loose. "no i get it. i'm sorry for popping in this way. it's a little embarrassing. meet you back at yours later." (y/n) said grabbing her items and leaving the gifts. "happy anniversary, joshy." she said a little too harsh as she walked out.

he mentally cursed himself and ran a hand over his face. he knew she was mad. joshua could see right through her and the way her voice sounded meant he was in deep crap. he looked at the gift bags. feeling even more guilty.

"dammit, what do i do?! julia. julia can help me." joshua pondered and grabbed his phone. hoping to catch julia before she left the set to help figure out a plan for (y/n).

joshua and julia made it to her house and came up with ideas for him to do. about an hour later they came up with the idea to get her out of the house tomorrow so he can set up a huge indoor picnic.

he knew how much she loved picnics, but with the snowy weather that was impossible. joshua and julia ended up at a few different stores buying decorations and cute snacks and gifts. all her favorite candy was to be set up, drinks and some rose petals.

he also printed some photos of the two of them, his favorites, and fairy lights. julia brought up a way to set the picnic up from something she saw on pinterest. the decor was to stay at her house until tomorrow when she would pick (y/n) up to 'go out' shopping.

and from there joshua would set up his special evening for (y/n). hoping she would forgive him. as of now, she was on the couch watching spider-man and ignoring him. joshua knee better than to talk to her right now, so he let her be and went to the bedroom.

early afternoon the next day, joshua was up and ready to start decorating. he attempted to talk to (y/n) and only got a few words out of her. julia was on her way to pick his girlfriend up, leaving the decorations in a container tub near the neighbors.

"i'm going with ashlyn to go shopping, maybe we can get dinner or something later." (y/n) said as she popped into the room joshua was in before leaving without a goodbye.

joshua sighed, still hearing the anger in her voice. as much as she tried to hide it. he walked to the front door and saw julia's car drive off. the tub was outside and he slipped a coat on to retrieve it.

"let's hope for the best, man." he said out loud and moved around his living room furniture.

hours later he had hung up white sheets with the lights he just got. inside were throw pillows from the couches. josh was no chef and ordered pizza. but the snacks she loved were prepared in nice containers. filling up the picnic basket that he just got.

her candies wrapped around the sides of the basket and the drinks were inside a portable cooler. he laid the pictures around with the rose petals and set up the gifts in the front. josh just looked at what he created with julia's help.

there was no way that he could forgive himself for even forgetting their anniversary. he was so deep in his own thoughts that he hadn't heard his phone go off that julia was about to drop (y/n) off. there was a noise at the door that ripped him away from the set-up. "shit!" he quietly yelled. running to the door before she walked inside.

"oh, crap. why are you right here at the door?" (y/n) asked, laughing a little at his odd position. "i have a, uh. late surprise?" joshua said even though it was more of a question.

her face turned confused. she was hoping to get over the entire missing the anniversary thing. "what?" she questioned as he grabbed the bags out of her hands and helped take her jacket off.

"follow me, love." he said and guided her towards the living room. before meeting her at the door he shut the lights off so the fairly lights shined nicely. josh stopped at the entrance and blocked her view. "firstly, i would like to apologize for missing and forgetting our anniversary. i'm sorry if i embarrassed you and messed your plans up."

(y/n) softly smiled and nodded. joshua took a breath and moved out of the way. the smile faded as a look of surprise took over. "josh.." she said look at the decorated floor and all the food sitting in the middle of it.

turning around she immediately took hold of him for a hug. guilt flooded her body as she squeezed him hard. "i don't know what to say. except that i don't deserve this." (y/n) continued pulling away to look at her boyfriend.

"i shouldn't have made you feel so bad you felt that you had to do this." shaking her head and backing up. "no. that's not it, i wanted to do something special for our anniversary anyways. i mean come on. i forgot this. i had to make it up to you. couldn't let you be angry forever." he chuckled and motioned her to sit inside the makeshift fort.

"i'm sorry for getting mad at you. but this is incredible. julia helped didn't she? she wouldn't stop jumping as i talked crap about you." (y/n) laughed feeing guilty about that too. "yeah i begged her for help. but it's behind us now. i won't forget any other anniversary. shall we enjoy our indoor picnic?"

nodding and kissing him softly, (y/n) opened the box of pizza to it being in the shape of a heart. "you're totally forgiven now. heart shaped pizza for the win." josh laughed and pushed all her gifts forward.
