"I don't want to learn," Sehun whined as he slammed his head on the hard desk. I rolled my eyes as I got my notebook and pencils out; it was only the fifth day of school and he was already complaining.

"I feel you," Bam Bam agreed. "My brain already hurts."

"Well maybe if you didn't stay up all night playing video games, it wouldn't," Mark commented, looking over at the boy beside him.

"I still don't get why they made you two roommates," I said as I shook my head and Bam Bam glared at Mark.

"Yeah, you're gonna kill each other by the time the year ends," Chanyeol added.

"That is not a totally false prediction. Now it's just a matter of who will die first," Mark said, getting a small chuckle out of us.

"Hey guys," Lucas, one of the underclassmen, said as he walked up to us, scattering in like the rabbit from Alice in Wonderland.

"Hey, what's up?" I replied with a confused expression.

"You forgot this in the studio last night," he said as he handed me my phone.

"Oh shit, thanks. I was wondering where I put that," I said and grabbed it from his hand.

"No worries, hyung! I gotta go. I can't be late again," he said, rushing off again.

"Well that wasn't awkward at all," Chanyeol said sarcastically as I turned back around in my chair. I looked at him with narrowed eyes.

"Shut up," I said with a big eye roll. "You know the rumors are fake. Nothing happened between us."

"Right like the rumors between you and Jennie are fake, too," he said. I sighed heavily, my eyes widening as my lips pressed together in a thin line. "You know, once the rumors start piling up, Jong, it gets harder to just say they're fake."

"It's not my fault people are bored and have nothing better to do than make up shit about my personal life," I retaliated before organizing the rest of my supplies. "They're just threatened by me, so they feel like they need to smear my image to make up for their lack of ability to beat me."

Chanyeol laughed. "Okay, if you say so," he said as he sat back against his chair. I just clicked my tongue at him. It was then that I noticed the new kid walk in with Baekhyun and my eyes landed on him instantly. He was smiling as he and Baekhyun walked closer to the front and sat next to each other.

Suddenly, this weird feeling struck me and I found myself sitting back in my seat to observe him. Was I worried about the threat he and his scholarship posed? Not necessarily; I had built a pretty good reputation for myself. Still, it was hard to know with people like him. He seemed quiet, but that didn't mean he couldn't be a dark horse. It was difficult to explain why, but he felt like someone I didn't want as my enemy.

But as the saying goes, keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

"So how's your roommate?" Baekhyun asked as we approached the classroom we were supposed to be in. "I heard he's quiet. Like really quiet."

"Yeah, he is." I nodded, causing a smile to grow on his lips. "But he seems okay and easy to get along with. I don't think we'll have any problems."

"Well that's good," he replied, nodding his head a little. "Believe it or not, having a bad roommate can ruin your whole year all by itself."

"I bet," I said in agreement. "So do you like yours?"

"He's alright," he said, cocking his head to the side. "He's kind of, how can I say this nicely...he thinks he's the be-all, end-all of life, you know?"

"So he's a narcissist?"

"Yeah, that's the word I was looking for!" He clapped his hands together. "I just couldn't seem to find it." I laughed a little and we walked inside, sitting next to one another in the front.

"So, why do they bother teaching regular classes if this is a specialized school?" I asked out of sudden curiosity.

"It's a requirement of the government, I guess," he answered, shrugging a little. "Plus, in case we don't make it in the spotlight, it's something to fall back on." I hummed and nodded in understanding, though the thought of failure never ceased to haunt me. "Oh, I wanted to ask you," he said, turning to me. "You remember Jongdae from orientation, right?"

"Yeah, the one sitting next to Joonmyun," I said, nodding and realizing that was a weird way of remembering someone.

"Right, so he and I decided to do a group performance for the showcase at the end of the year. We were gonna just do a duet, but we were practicing and it just didn't sound right. So, I was wondering if you wanted to join us?"

"Um, I guess that sounds fun," I said, still a little unsure and surprised he asked me. "Are you sure though? Wouldn't you rather ask Luhan or someone you've actually heard sing before?"

"That would be the safe option, yes, but we both discussed it and we figured someone with a full scholarship must be pretty good, so we felt confident enough to ask." I nodded and looked away for a moment in thought. "I mean, you don't have to, but you know, since you transferred in as a senior, you'd most likely have to perform alone and I know how nerve-wracking that can be."

"N-No, that makes sense," I replied as I looked at him again. "I'll do it."

"Awesome!" He smiled. "I'll let you know when we start practicing, but these first few classes will just be like hearing everyone sing and stuff like that, so you don't have to worry about it quite yet."

"Okay," I replied, nodding a few times. He smiled briefly and then turned his attention to the teachers as they began talking.

"Alright, everyone settle down," the teacher said. "We have a lot to go over today."

I was honestly really nervous about singing in of Baekhyun and Jongdae, which was odd considering I had performed in front of large crowds before. But something about performing here made me feel so much more pressure to do well, especially being a senior. Everyone I had met so far had so much time to prepare to be an official trainee, but I didn't. Just another thing to add to my growing list of insecurities I guess.
