Kyungsoo

If I was being honest, I didn't want winter break to ever end. If Jongin suggested that we spent the rest of our lives hiding in the cabin away from the world, I wouldn't have opposed him. There was something about just being able to be together without the hustle and bustle of our regular academic lives putting pressure on us to constantly work to be better and to never fully trust anyone.

My parents ended up driving up for a visit, so I got to spend some time with them. But mostly, I tried to spend as much time as possible with Jongin so that when school started back up, I was less prone to doing stupid things just so I could see him. Most of the time, we'd hang out in his dorm room since his roommate was visiting home for the break. We'd watch movies, play card games, and spend a lot of time...physically enjoying each other.

But as was the nature of being a student at the Seoul Academy for the Performing Arts, I also spent a decent amount of time practicing for the showcase. Jongin did as well, spending a good portion of his time in the dance studio. Sometimes, I'd spend hours in there with him, just watching him dance and sometimes practicing myself--but only sometimes.

"Okay, let's go again from the top," Baekhyun said to Chen and I during practice one day.

"Aw, Baek, we've sung the song three whole times now," Jongdae protested. "I'm getting tired of hearing it."

"Yeah and my throat is starting to hurt," I added, briefly rubbing my throat.

"Mine, too, yeah," Jongdae agreed.

"That's not my problem," Baekhyun said. Jongdae and I looked at each other and we rolled our eyes. "Don't look at me like I'm the bad guy," he said.

"But you kind of are right now," Jongdae said, shrugging his shoulders. Baekhyun glared at him and Jongdae quickly brought his eyes to the ground.

"Look, I know I'm being a bit of a hard ass with this," he said, beginning to pace back and forth.

"A bit?" I said.

"Shush, child. Let me finish," he said, pointing a finger at me. Jongdae and I chuckled a little bit. "I'm just trying to get us prepared for the showcase."

"It'll just be the seniors there, Baek," Jongdae said. "As far as I'm concerned, we're the ones who should be making people nervous and feel the need to practice more."

"Have you heard some of these guys?" Baekhyun said, his eyes directed at Chen. "Daehyun has like 7-8 octaves. You know how many that is? I'm pretty sure none of us have that many octaves." He picked up his feet again and started pacing. "So we are gonna need all the practice we can get if we want to get scouted and have any chance at debuting. Now is not the time to get comfortable with the skill levels we're at right now."

"Why are you worrying about the future so much?" I asked, causing him to stop and look at me. "You should just try and enjoy right now. You know, the time before we have to be all serious and stuff."

"Says Mr. I'm always occupied with my boyfriend," he replied.

"And that's me enjoying my time," I said. "You know, I bet Chanyeol would help you out with that."

"Ha! I would never that giant help me in any way, shape, or form, especially if I'm trying to enjoy my time," he said.

"Oh come on, Baek, don't be a hater," Jongdae said. "No one takes the competition here that seriously."

Baekhyun scoffed at us. "You guys talk too much," he said. Jongdae and I laughed at Baekhyun. He was never the type to admit when someone was right, besides himself, of course. "Now, let's go again." We groaned and he just waved his hand at us.
