Continued from The Eleventh Hour ― II
__________"What is this place." The Doctor asked as he, Freja and Amy walked down the road, a young boy running past them in the opposite direction whilst playing with a toy helicopter. "Where are we?"
"Leadworth." Amy answered.
"Where's the rest of it?"
"Unfortunately, this is it." Freja told him.
"Is there an airport?"
"No." Amy shook her head.
"A nuclear power station?"
"No." Freja said, looking around and taking note of how no one was driving and was just paying attention to the sky as it began to look strange.
"Even a little one?" The Doctor inquired.
"No."
"Nearest city?"
"Gloucester." Amy stated, taking a look around herself. "Half an hour by car."
"We don't have half an hour." The Doctor sighed. "Do we have a car?"
"I have one." Freja informed. "But it's back at my house. We obviously wouldn't have enough time to get it and then drive all the way to Gloucester."
"Well, that's just great." The Doctor huffed, pouting slightly. "Fantastic, that is. Twenty minutes to save the world, and I've got a post office. And it's shut!" His attention was then caught by something else. "What is that?" He pointed to a small pond.
"It's a duck pond." Amy answered as the three of them went over to it.
"Why aren't there any ducks?" He asked in confusion.
"I don't know." Amy shrugged. "There's never any ducks."
"Then how do you know it's a duck pond?"
"It's just a thing people call it." Freja huffed. "There's no real reason why. It just is what it is." She crossed her arms. "Why? Is it important?"
"I don't kn– argh!" The Doctor fell forward, clutching his chest. "Why would I know?" He questioned as he shakily sat on the ground next to the duck pond. He breathed heavily as he clutched his chest. "I'm not ready." He muttered to himself. "I'm not done yet."
"What's happening?" Amy asked as the sky began to get dark all over. "Why's it going dark?"
Freja frowned as the Sun suddenly appeared grey and flickering before returning close to normal. "Alright... What is wrong with the Sun?"
"Nothing." The Doctor answered. "You're looking at it through a forcefield. They've sealed off your upper atmosphere. Now they're getting ready to boil the planet." He groaned a bit as he stood up and looked over in the direction of the village green where the villagers were looking up to capture photos of the Sun. "Oh, and here they come." He rolled his eyes. "The human race. The end comes, as it was always going to – down a video phone."
"This isn't real, is it?" Amy asked nervously. "This is some kind of big wind up."
"Why would I wind you up?" The Doctor asked.
"You told us you had a time machine." Freja reminded him.
The Doctor glanced at her. "And you believed me. You said that –"
"I believe in a lot of things." She cut him off. "I remember. And it still is true." She then sighed. "But then life happened, reality hit, and I decided to grow up."
"Oh, don't do that." The Doctor told her, shaking his head. "You never want to do that." He then paused. "No, hang on, shut up, wait. I missed it." He smacked himself on the forehead a couple of times. "I saw it, and I missed it. I saw..." He spun around, looking. "What did I see? I saw, I saw, I saw..." He trailed off, slowly turning towards Freja and Amy. "Twenty minutes, I can do it!" He grinned. "Twenty minutes, the planet burns. Run to your loved ones and say goodbye, or stay and help me."
