"Hey, what do you think about the upcoming school concert?" I ask Rohan as we walk through the busy corridor.

"It's a good thing. " He says with a shrug.

"No, I mean, will you participate?"

"Nope. " His reply is blunt.

"Why?"

He doesn't speak but just responds with a shrug.

This guy really has fewer words than even I do. Maybe that's the reason why it's comfortable to hang out with him.

"You're participating right?" He asks all of a sudden.

"Nope."

"Why?"

I hum. "You know, performing in front a crowd, I'm kind of phobic about that and I'm not much of a talent anyway."

"Who said you aren't much of a talent?"

"Me."

He rolls his eyes--a very unexpected gesture.

"Don't tell me you haven't been on a stage before. " He say with a sigh.

"As much as I remember, NEVER! And I'm not even an expert in playing the piano, so don't even think about it."

"I wasn't talking about your piano skills, you need to learn more than that. You can sing right?"

"A little but..how, how do you know that? "

He stops walking and turns to look at me.

"I suppose, it's a gift. I have sharp eyes, helpful for fishing out talents."

I roll my eyes.

"Okay, I heard you humming while you were departing from the music hall yesterday."

"And by hearing me hum, you were actually able to judge my singing standards?"

"It's not that hard you know, I do have sarp ears." He says with a shrug.

I stop walking and pass him a questioning look, which makes him stop and talk to me, face to face.

"If you really want me to judge your vocal talents in a better manner, then..."

"Hey, where were you? Making friends already?"

He's interrupted by the cheerful voice of Sia who stands by the railing in front of her classroom.

"Just having a tour. " I reply casually. "And meet Rohan."

"Yeah, I know him. We're classmates after all, but I'd still like to have a formal intro." She offers her hand. "Hi Rohan, I'm Sia."

"Hi, umm..nice to meet you." He takes her hand with an awkward smile which I can't figure out whether it's genuine or fake, either way, this is the first time I'm seeing him fully smile.

"Hey, Bianca. "

"Hi, Niel."

So, the rising of the temperature begins. But at least I'm glad he doesn't have that annoyed look anymore.

"Meet my friend, Rohan." As I say that, Rohan takes a quick glance of me but shortly returns his attention back to Niel.

Aren't we friends already?
