As I sit on our third and final plane, I realize that this is actually happening. My mother and I are actually leaving the United States and going to Australia. I will not have to worry about my horrible father. I can live a normal life. I thought it would be scary, but it's actually a very good feeling that I can just start over.

I lean my head back and close my eyes, Paramore playing in my ear buds.

I wake up to darkness with a tiny peak of light shining through. I wonder what time it is. I check my iPod and it says that it is nine at night. That can't be right. I turn my head and look at my mom and she is fast asleep. I reach under her seat and grab her bag that she brought with her. I take her phone out and check the time and it says that it's five-thirty in the morning. That's more like it. We must be close to Australia if the sun is starting to rise and the time is changing. I hope so, I'm ready to be back on the ground.

I look around the plane cabin, almost everybody is sleeping except for a few people. Outside, the sun is rising slowly. It's a really beautiful sight, being over the clouds and watching the sun rise. I watch out the window for a long time, watching the sun rise until it is shining brightly, leaving a glow on the clouds.

I look over to my mom and see that she is awake.

"It's pretty, don't you think?" she says, looking out the window too.

"Yeah, it is," I reply.

"It shouldn't be much longer until we land," she says, then she looks me in the eyes and says, "I never really asked you what you thought of moving so far away, I sort of just laid it upon you and forced you to move. So I guess I will ask you now, how do you feel about moving to Australia?"

"Um.. I think it's a great idea honestly. It's not like I'm leaving much behind. I didn't have many friends, but I think I maybe I can make some in Australia. I'm glad we can both be together and get away from him. So I feel pretty good about it," I tell her and give a smile, a true smile.

"I'm glad that you feel that way," and she grabs my hand and says, "I love you, you know?"

"Yeah, I know. I love you, too. Thank you for everything," I say.

"I'm your mom, it's what I do."

"Yeah, well he was my father and he didn't do anything for me," I say, looking away.

"Hey, that's why we are moving here, remember? We are going to be just fine here," and she leans over and kisses my forehead.

"Attention everybody, this is your pilot speaking. We are preparing to land this plane. Please stay seated and buckle your seat belts. We hope you had a nice flight, and thank you for choosing Delta Airlines."

Oh. My. Gosh. We are about to land in Australia. This is actually happening. I look over at my mom, my eyes wide, and she laughs, reaching down to buckle her seat belt and I do the same.

I look out the window and see the tiny ground, but it doesn't look like America. Of course it doesn't look like America, it's Australia. Everything just looks.. different. I like it.

We get closer and closer to the ground with every passing second, and within about three minutes, I can clearly see the landing runway.

I hold onto the arms of my seat as the plane lands. roughly, but safe.

We are really here. And staying.
