"Wake up, Ashli! It's your first day at school today!" I hear my mom saying cheerfully as she shakes my shoulder to wake me up.
"I'm up," I sigh as I sit up, shielding my eyes from the light coming through the blinds.
"You have an hour and a half to get ready until I am driving you to school!" she yells as she is walking back down the hallway.
I kick off the sheets and comforter and swing my legs over the side of my bed. I walk to my iHome and play some music as I start making my bed like I always have. After I'm done making my bed, I open my closet door and see the uniform clothes that my mom bought for me to wear to Richmond. I take out a blue polo shirt with the school symbol on the left side, a maroon skirt, and a maroon blazer thing. I lay the clothes on my bed and go turn my straightener on. I brush the knots out of my hair and smile as my favorite song "Misery Business" by Paramore comes on. Singing along to the words that Hayley Williams' sings so greatly, I apply a light coat of foundation and mascara. I pull most of my hair up in a clip on top of my head and straighten the bottom pieces of my hair, then do the rest. When my hair is how I like it, I change into the school uniform. It's a good thing I wore a uniform at my old school in America so I am sort of used to them, it's nothing new.
I look in the mirror when I am fully dressed and let out a sigh, this is my new life, I think to myself.
I fix a piece of hair that was flipped on the wrong side and look in the mirror one last time before going to the kitchen to get some breakfast.
"Are you ready to go?" my mom asks when I get in the kitchen.
"Yeah, I still have like foy-five minutes before we need to leave though," I reply.
"Well, I thought we could go get some breakfast before I take you to school. So if you want to, go ahead and brush your teeth and grab your stuff for school and we will go to Dunkin' Donuts," she says, knowing Dunkin' Donuts is one of my favorite places to eat.
I go back to my room and grab my bag with my school stuff in it. Then I brush my teeth and go back to the kitchen.
"Alright, I'm ready," I say to my mom.
"Okay, let's go," she says with a smile as she grabs her purse and car keys.

I walk to an empty table by the window, carrying my iced coffee and my cream cheese donut. I sit in front of my mom and start eating my donut, trying my best not to get it on my uniform. When I finish my donut, I drink the rest of my coffee, then go to the bathroom to wash the stickiness of the donut off of my hands.
I walk back to where my mom is still sitting and tell her that I'm ready if she is and she gets up, still drinking her coffee. We throw our trash away as we walk out of the restaurant and go to our car.
"We still have about twenty minutes until you need to be at school, and it takes almost fifteen to get to the school," she says as she starts the car and pulls out of the parking lot.
"Okay, let's go ahead and go so I can somewhat find my way to my classes," I say.
She nods as she drives down the road that I'm still not used to, even though it's been three weeks.
After more than ten minutes of driving, I see a large sign that says "Richmond High School" and that's when I start getting nervous because I don't know anybody here, other than Ashton, but I just met him only a week and a half ago. Maybe he can help me find my way around the school for a while. Unless he treats me like the boys at my old school, acting like I'm invsible and not noticing me. Or the ones that do notice me, but act like total douchebags. He wouldn't do that though, at least I don't think he would.
We pull into the front parking lot of the school. My mom finds a parking place, parks the car in it, and shuts the car off.
"You ready?" she asks as she unbuckles her seat belt.
"As ready as I'll ever be," I say nervously, as I unbuckle mine too.
I open my car door and grab my bag, throwing my bag over my shoulder. My mom opens her door and gets out also, walking in front of me, going to what I guess is the front office.
We walk through the front doors of the school and there are some other kids dressed like me and their parents are with them, signing them in if it's their first time at the school, like me.
After my mom signs me in, she turns to me and kisses me on the forehead, "I will be back at two-thirty to pick you up. Have a good day," she says, giving me a smile.

I sit in the third desk back from the front of the room, nervously tapping my pencil on the desk. When everyone is settled in their desks, the teacher, Ms. Newton, stands up and walks to the front of the room.
"Good morning everyone," she says and we all reply, "Good morning".
"I am Ms. Newton, your year ten geography teacher. I hope you will enjoy my class. I know school isn't very fun, but I will try my best to make this class as fun as possible, but you will also be learning a lot this year," she says.
About five minutes in the class, I feel someone tap on my shoulder and turn around. The girl behind me hands me a folded up piece of paper. I feel my cheeks go hot as I take the note from her. It says "Ashli" in sloppy handwriting on the outside.
I open the note quietly. In the sloppy handwriting it says, "turn around to your right :) -Ashton".
I didn't even notice he was in the same class as me. I turn around and see Ashton, and he grins widely at me, then gives me a little wave. I give him a smile and a little wave in return.
I turn back around to face the front of the room and listen to Ms. Newton talk to the class about how Australia was found and made into a continent.
