Their story {Spinel x Reader} (ON HOLD)

Chapter 8

Previously: 

You turn back to see Spinel giggling while she was holding onto Steven's right harm. "Here she is, my new best friend, Spinel.", Steven sighs tiredly, putting a hand behind his head. "A pleasure to meet you all.", Spinel said bowing only to look up to you a winking with a smile. What...?  was all you could think of when Spinel made her little flirting sign. You return the sign by winking back. Her cheeks become dusted with a hot pink blush with her mouth slightly agape. What is this warm sensation deep inside?

Now: 

"I thought you said she was just trying to kill you!", Bismuth spoke up, interrupting Your & Spinel's flirt session. "Wow, quick turnaround!", Lapis noted nonchalantly. "No kidding! It took me months to stop trying to kill Steven," Peridot added looking up at Bismuth. "I say it took me a day? Day and a half?", Bismuth wondered shrugging lightly. "I'm still on the fence!", Lapis joked causing the two other gems to chuckle lightly. 

The gems then asked Steven how this whole disaster happened and what caused your friends to... reset. At the time you really couldn't do much, so you just sat back and watched, not noticing how Steven's best friend left his side, somehow. 

You start to look around the roof of the building. Where could she be? She couldn't have gone far. You turn behind yourself slightly. only to see a small glimpse of pink. You turn your head over to the other side to see, once again, another glimpse of pink. You smirk, knowing who exactly is playing with you. You "innocently" place your hands behind your back and begin to walk forward, soon after, you hear the soft squeaking of someones familiar shoes. 

You stifle a snicker as you round the building's large propeller about three or four times, just to confuse the poor Spinel. Spinel scratched her head as you completely disappeared from her sight, but you were merely on the other side of the propeller as she was on the opposite side. She began to circle the propeller again and doing so you circle the propeller in sync with her. After the circling, you and Spinel found yourselves exactly where you started, ironic isn't it? 

Foolishly, Spinel turned her back to you, looking off somewhere. Big mistake. To quietly make your way around the propeller, doing your best not to make noise, ready to tackle the pink gem. You inch closer and closer, you are practically right behind her. You bend over slightly, preparing to wrap your arms around her and scare the living crap out of her, until...

She turns around.

Spinel squeaks as she is met by your sparkling (e/c) orbs, and at this point, her face exploded into a hundred shades of red/pink. Welp, your prank failed and now you're suffering the consequences. You two manage to just... stare at each other for an uncomfortable amount of time. You wonder what's going on in her head right now. 

Spinel's POV: (UwU didn't see that coming)

The girl, Y/n, if I'm right, was playing some sort of game with me but at one point she disappeared! Can humans do that? Can the just... disappear? An uncomfortable feeling of nostalgia washes over me, I don't like it. I looking over the roof of the strange building and scratch my head. Where could she have gone? I think I hear something behind me. I turn around and the first this I see is the sparkling eyes of none other than Y/n.

I felt my entire face get really hot. My face always gets warm when she looks at me sideways and there's a weird fuzzy feeling deep in my gem when she smiles. Yeah, but right now, I have her full attention and the fuzziness in my gem increased tenfold. She blinked a couple of times and tilted her head innocently. Wait, what's that word? She looks very... cute. Yeah, that word. Wait why do I think she looks... cute??

"Er, Spinel, are you alright?", Y/n asked looking slightly concerned. She's worried about me. Why? There isn't anything wrong with me is there?! "Y-Yeah, I-I'm just s-swell!", I exclaimed studdering terribly. "Are you sure? You look nervous about something." She pushed, leaning forwards. "U-Um," I stutter, and no, I didn't feel okay. I felt... nervous about... something... was it judgment? "I feel fine!" She gave me a suspicious look. She knew I was lying. 

I dart my eyes in a random direction, only to see... Best friend Steven! He looks so sad! He was sitting on the floor slumped on a side of the wall. How could I just leave him like that?! "OhsorryIhavetogoStevenneedsmebye!!", I bolt running over to Steven to cheer him up! No best friend of mine is gonna be sad on my watch! Even if I don't know what a watch is! 

(Y/n)'s POV:

Spinel really didn't seem okay, She was blushing an awful lot. Can gems overheat? If they can, you think Spinel is on the very edge of oblivion. Spinel utters a mess of a sentence and runs off towards a pretty depressed Steven, trying to cheer him up by doing cartwheels and a bunch of other amusing tricks. You, honestly, saw them as really adorable. 

Steven and the other crystal gems proceeded to sing a song about never giving up and that they were crystal gems that have seen far worse than this and won each time. And the author of the book didn't write the lyrics to it because they were a lazy couch potato. (I'm sorry if you're disappointed TvT AND STOP BREAKING THE FOURTH WALL I JUST FIXED IT YESTERDAY!!)

~TIME SKIP TO THE END OF "Who we are" BROUGHT TO YOU BY theMeatly~

"🎶We'll find a way, To save the day, That's who we are!🎶" Bismuth sang, winking encouragingly at the half-gem boy. The gem hybrid was suddenly filled to the brim with confidence. "Right! Okay, there's gotta be a way to make them remember!" Steven lamented, glancing at the blue oracle and red guard gems. "What if its like a puzzle?", Spinel spoke up behind Steven, still partially flustered. 

"Huh?" You and Steven ask simultaneously.

"If we give 'em all the pieces," Spinel explained, folding her fingers together, "Eventually, they'll get the picture!"

"Spinel! You might be onto something!" Steven explained, "If every experience they lost is a-a piece of who they are, then we just have to give em' back all the pieces! One experience at a time!" He explained triumphantly, leaving you to think over the facts, I mean the Gems are thousands of years old and to match each of their experiences? Wow.

"Are you serious?" Lapis asked

"That could take forever!" Peridot added 

"Exactly!" Steven started, looking at you, "So let's get started!", you finish. 

"🎶We'll find a way, to save the day, that's who we are!🎶" Everyone sang while posing victoriously on the warp pad... 

Spinel came out of nowhere and sang, "🎶Here we are in the future! Yeah! Here we are in the future and its wrrroooonnnggg~!🎶" while she danced like she was part of a dramatic play. 

"Woah, Spinel. Its okay we're done." Steven explained while the others still stood their places on the warp. You clap joyfully regardless if the song was over or not. Spinel bows playfully as if she had starred in a Broadway musical. "Oh, thank you, thank you!" She gushed. "You are too kind!" 

The gems chuckle at your playfulness, except for Steven, he seems to have that "Can we please get going?" look. You clear your throat with a determined look on your face, "Well, time to get started!" You say triumphantly while seeing in the corner of your eye, Spinel blowing a kiss in your direction, your mind went blank as your face exploded into fifty shades of red, and you realize; Oh my god, I have a crush on Spinel! You internally panic, because... Can she see all the feelings that you hide?
