Chapter 4

Previously:

You blush slightly at the sight of her staring at you. "Ngh, what are you talking about?", Steven asked genuinely confused and enraged. "You weren't always a powerful hero, were you?", she asked mockingly, soon spiraling into an insane echo of laughter. Steven took this moment to tear the scythe from the gem and destroy her! The second this happened, confused You, Steven, and the pink gem. All together.

Now:

Steven broke away from the powerful grip of the pink gem, having the dangerous scythe in hand. Leaving the pink gem, continuously laughing and defenseless. Deep down, in the darkest part of your subconscious, You say to yourself "I have to save her!" This ultimately confuses you, she just poofed your friends and is now trying to kill Steven! Your mind, completely lost in your thoughts, has a slow and sudden realization. Thoughts still sinking in, your body moves forward without thinking. 

You didn't have time to stop yourself, and you rush forward to the pink gem. Steven, using the last of his strength, swings the scythe at full force. Unfortunately, Steven hits You with the scythe! You were blocking the pink gem, who now was ultimately ready to be poofed, who now had a tear rolling down her cheek. You wince as the blade hit the surface of your skin, causing multiple glowing veins to form, somewhat like what happened to Steven earlier. 

Steven opens his eyes to see his friend grasping the sharp blade of the weapon, a gasp left his lips as he saw the pink gem being defended by you. The pink gem opens her eyes with an expression that said 'Why the hell didn't I poof?!' You turn your head towards her with a gentle smile. She looks confused at you. "Hey! Why didn't you hit me?!", she growled towards Steven. 

"Y/n! What are you doing?!", Steven said, pure concern in his voice, not answering the gem's question. "Steven, please! I know she's dangerous, but there has to be another way!" you shout, almost tearing up. Steven removes the blade from your clutches. "Y/n, I know that every person should get a second chance, but now is not the time!" Steven bellows, wanting you to move. The pink gem behind you wipes away her tear, trying not to show how she's feeling. You turn away from Steven, to face the gem. 

"Are you alright?", you ask her, not caring what could have happened to you. "What? Why do you care--?!", the evil gem replied sounding furious. But she is interrupted when Steven pushes you out of his way and slashes the pink gem in half, narrowly hitting her perfectly cut gem. She poofs with a smug grin on her face. 

Her gem falls to the ground with a light thud. Steven sighed as he falls to his knees with relief. The pink veins on his body finally, disappear making him make weird noises again. "Steven, I... I'm sorry, I don't know what came over me!", you say completely sorry and wanting to comfort him. "Ah, it's alright Y/n, it's not your fault. You just wanted everyone safe. Its part of your natural instinct to be a good person, everything will be alright.", Steven said reassuringly. 

"So, I guess you have to bubble her, huh?", you say slightly disappointed, but not at Steven. "Yeah...", Steven says full of relief and sarcasm. Putting down the scythe, and forming a bubble around her gem only for it to pop. "What?", Steven questioned. "Try again?" You ask, trying to be calm. He tries again. It pops. He tries to form a bubble manually by holding the gem in his palms. "Come on...!", Steven groans, trying to form a bubble. 

Steven handles the pink gem in his clutches and struggles to form a bubble, he begins to work up a sweat. "Mmm-mm!" Steven mumbles, beginning to form a small bubble around the heart-shaped crystal. It soon pops, the pink crystal drops to the grass, having Steven sweating and panting from exhaustion. "Steven, are you okay?!", you ask him, genuinely concerned. Steven pulls up the rim of his blue star shirt. His gem had an abnormal, bright pink aura in the center. Both you and Steven ask, simultaneously, "What's going on?" 

You and Steven try not to panic and focus on the more important matters: Making sure that the crystal gems are, now alright. Steven picks up Sapphire and Amethyst's gems. You pick up Pearl, Ruby, and... The pink gem's gem. Upon your further examination of the heart-shaped crystal, I never did get to learn her name... you thought to yourself. You smile slightly of the thought of you and her getting to know each other. 

An idea pops in your head. You turn over to Steven. "Hey Steven, uh... Can I keep watch on this one?", you ask pleadingly, gesturing towards the pink gem. "What!? Why? She could hurt you! She could hurt us!", Steven replied, frantically. "But Steven! She looked scared and hurt and I want to know if I can help her! And besides, you know I won't give up until I do...!", you say, determined to be the good person you are. Steven sat and thought for a moment and let out a heavy sigh. "Fine, but I'm going to watch them with you.", Steven sighed, sounding like a tired parent. You laugh a tiny bit. "Haha, Okay that's fair.", You say with a flicker of hope. 

Walking down the hill to the beach house, you decide to start up a conversation. "Hey, Steven. Did you know that you kind of sounded like my father back there?", you question. Steven gave you a snickering look. "What? No!", he said trying to deny it. "Yes, you did, young man! Now here I thought I was the adult here!", you joke, walking up the steps. (You are about 18 to 21 in this soo yea)
