"Come on, let's get some sleep." Bruce picked me up like a princess again, walking me to the cabin. He laid me gently on the bed, then laid next to me. Florez was asleep in the bed next to us, he has always been the first to fall asleep. I laid sideways, facing the opposite way of Bruce. Bruce slid his arm under my side, draping him other arm around my other side. He pulled me into his chest, hugging me and putting his head on top of mine.
I had a hard time falling asleep, but managed. I awoke early, right as the run arose. It was awful, going quite a while without a shower, nothing to do, eating only MREs. I sat on the same hill, thinking silently.
"Hey, Wolf, you're up early." General walked up to me, and chuckled.
"I- I apologize for the fight, Sir." I stood up, saluting him.
"No need! I'm glad we had that conversation, I talked to the vehicle unit. They should be arriving in two days. No need to worry about Moralez, your friend contacted me once I asked the chopper group for help. Master Sergeant Umnaya is pretty cool, isn't he?" General smiled, and I chuckled. I sat back down, and General sat next to me. "It's confusing, isn't it?"
"I- I'm sorry Sir, I don't know what you are talking about..." I looked at him in confusion.
"It's confusing how people say they want to serve our country, but they don't mean it. Moralez and Campbell are great examples. Campbell lied to us all, especially you. Moralez, what he did to Swatch was..."
"Terrible. Mercy was laid upon his soul, if I would have decided what could've happened to him-"
"It's ok, boy. Calm down." General patted me on the shoulder. "Ah, let's go pack, get that Mexian jumping bean up. Also, get your Bruce up politely." General winked at me, standing up and walking to his tent. I walked inside the cabin, and did what General told me to.
I sat at the side of the bed on my knees, on Bruce's side. I tried to hold back a laugh, even a giggle would wake him up.
"Gggooodddd mmmmoorrrnniinnggg." Bruce's eyes fluttered open, he smiled at the sight of me. He kissed me on the cheek, and got out of bed. I walked over to Florez, laughing. "General said to just wake him up, so..." I picked up the side of Florez's bed, tipping it. Florez rolled out of bed, yelling.
"Qué diablos, Wolf?!"
"All I know is that you said my name, now, General said to wake you up. A vehicle unit is heading in before sunset." A chopper flew overhead, and I looked out the window. "What the-"
I ran outside, seeing the helicopter land right next to the village. Umnaya ran over to me, gasping for breath.
"Tajiks!! They- explosion!! Guns!! Humvee!!" Umnaya grabbed me by the shoulders, trying to speak but unable.
"Shh! Shh! Calm down!! Tajiks exploded the Humvees? They have guns?" I tried to get him to calm down, but I just couldn't. He nodded, "Ok! Get the bird ready! I'll go get the General!!" I ran into the General's tent, yelling, "General! General! I need the vehicle unit here now! We have native Tajikans blowing up our Humvees! Master Sergeant is here with his chopper!"
"Well what are you doing!? Get in the chopper!!" General signaled me to get to the chopper, so I ran back to the cabin. I grabbed my second pair of armor, checking my front and back plates. I threw on my armor, also grabbing my helmet and sunglasses. I grabbed my M2 Browning Machine Gun, closing the stand and shoving the rounds of ammunition into an ammo box. I grabbed the box, and bumped into Bruce's chest as I turned around.
"Where are you going!?" Bruce was already in his gear, an M249 Light Machine Gun in his hands.
"Bruce, I'm sorry, I don't have time to explain!" Moving away from Bruce, I ran outside.
