I don't know what I'm running from but I just can't stop. I run down the hallway into the endless darkness that consumes everything around me. Suddenly I come to a room on the right side of the hallway and then all around me there's a flash of light and just like that I'm standing in an empty school. I turn around to see the bathroom entrance in the main hall right behind me.I turn back around to the original way I was facing to see someone standing at the end of the hallway. The figure.
I continue to run letting my feet carry me towards the darkness but with every step I take I never get closer. It's as if I'm not moving at all. Eventually I reach them but they're facing the opposite way. I stick out my hand slowly moving it towards their shoulder but right as I touch them they dissolve into thin air leaving no trace that they were ever even there.
I'm now standing alone in an abandoned hallway with this pit in the bottom of my stomach. I was so close, so close to seeing a face but now I'm back on this unknown path that I've been on many times.
I start to turn around but instantly a pair of strong arms grab me from behind, suffocating me. I look down to see a that they're wearing a pair of black leather gloves and then, just like that, I blackout.

"Honey you have to work today so you might want to get up soon!" I hear my mom yell from the kitchen which suddenly wakes me up from my nightmare. I let out a groan and roll onto my back and stare at the ceiling. My whole body is sweating and I feel like I'm going to be sick, I'm really not looking forward to working today.
I work at a restaurant in the downtown area as a waitress every Saturday and sometimes other days when they need an extra server. "Okay mom!" I yell back and look over at my clock. It's 10:04am and my shift starts at 12:00pm so I should probably get ready.
After every time I sweat I need to take a shower otherwise I feel extremely gross the rest of the day, and since this day is just starting I'd rather not look like I've been sick the whole night.
I finish my shower, grab my uniform, which is a black skirt and black t-shirt, and put it on. I then put my hair into a low messy bun and then put on a bit of makeup and I'm ready. I take my keys and then grab my purse from my closet. I notice the pants I threw on the ground last night and I immediately check the pocket. I grab the note which is just where I left it. I hold it in my hands taking a deep breathe preparing myself for whatever I'm about to read.
I slowly open the note and start to read.
No matter what you say.
No matter what you do.
I'll be in the shadows,
waiting for you.
My breath alters and the room around me is spinning. This has to be a mistake right? I haven't done anything to whoever this is so why am I the moving target. This makes no sense so I'll find a way to make it.

"Ariah get the next customer I need to refill these drinks for the group of six over there!" Lacey yells walking swiftly to the kitchen. Yes, Lacey and I also work together so I guess you could say she's not just an acquaintance at school. "For sure." I say picking up four menus and walking towards the family. "Would you guys like a booth or a table?" I ask giving the sweetest smile I can at the moment. I can barely focus on my work because of everything running through my mind.
