The Aftermath: Mission Unexpected (Book 1)

Chapter 8: The Betrayal

As the Avenger enter the base, they wanted to celebrate their achievement until all the dead bodied reduced their enthusiasm. 

Coulson then said " What happened here? I thought you have armed the base?"

Then, an agent courageously said "It was Ward, he was daydreaming the whole time and at the hijack he went away with no trace until it was finished"

So, Coulson asked Ward to come to his office in 5 minutes and he did. By now, it was midnight and all the Avengers were sleepy so they went to bed whilst Coulson needs to deal with the current situation.

20 minutes later...

After around 20 minutes, Ward went out of Coulson's office and he said "I apologize sir, I shouldn't done that in the first place"

Then, Coulson said "Never mind that, go and get some sleep Ward, you'll need it tomorrow."

So, Ward went on out of Coulson's office and shut the door. Since Steve's room is right beside Coulson's office, he woke up. 

"Wait, what was that?" Steve said to himself. Then, he noticed a shadow from his doorstep. He waited until it went away and Steve go outside and investigate it. With this, he decided to follow Ward, and surprisingly, he did not go to his room, else he went to the containment cell where Magenta and Leo was held. Then, Steve heard a conversation. 

"Ward, where the heck have you been. Hurry, let us out before anyone noticed!" Magenta said. 

As she said that, Steve turned the base alarm and everyone immediately woke up. Then, Steve ran towards Ward, knocking him over, making him unconscious. 

Soon, everyone rushed over towards Steve and saw that Ward was unconscious. But, now they know the truth. Ward was a spy from the headquarters of Magenta and Leo's boss. Coulson arrived not long after that.

Coulson said " What happened here guys?" 

Then Clint said, "Agent Ward was a spy from the enemy and he was put here to collect intel...supposedly."

Now that explains why he did not arm the base in the first place. This also explains why he went away from the battlefield. He was helping the enemy hijacking the base and he told them to strike at the back part of the base where it is the weakest. HE BETRAYED US!!!

So, Coulson was forced to put Ward in a containment cell and left him there. Now, they know how the Uvies escaped the first place. It was Ward. Now, after they knew this, they fear what would happen next.
