Poem: The Day After

I bet on a horse and it won last night
Deep down in my heart there was
A little devil
Hoping I'd lose
So that the next 4 years
Hardship would make me stronger

Yeah, you got that right
Staring over the abyss
Was supposed to
Make me tougher

Oh well, hell didn't all
Break lose
Nor did it freeze over

Are we going to take
Climate change
Seriously
Or are we going to
Think we are
While emissions
Are actually
Going up?

The losers of the 21st century
Are those who do nothing
About climate change.
They will end up
Broke and penniless
And their grandchildren
Will spit on
Their graves.
