Poem: Grass in the Cracks

Fire hydrant, adopt-a-street sign
BB stroller, rich folks' line

Glory in the sky, sewage cover on the street
Dog walking their master
Unraked leaves

Landscape tools in the cart
Mud replacing lawn
Korean church sandwich sign
Gas station john

Nonsense from my mobile keys
Religious school parking half full
Quiet SDHs at ten twenty five
Freeway still no lull

Slippery warning on archway bridge
Dog park and leashes pulled
Silent woods under cloudy skies
Where marriages are made and annulled

Piled branches and pedestrian trails
Flooded marshes and trash scattered 'round
Pounding runners and sniffling nostrils
Fallen trunks on sopping ground

Morning hailers ascending slopes
Cracked tree trunks and leftover snow
Mini creeks amid green and brown
Cessna droning, groaning low

Sun breaks forth, lucky me
Mud and gravel, twigs and ditches
Back home like a waddling dino
Minus precious kiddo and Mrs

What wisdom have I amidst this mystery?
What words of direction can I possibly utter?
Me, the man chasing kites and sometimes wind
Still in search of my bread and butter

I go to nature tho' nature can't guide
No ears nor mouth does it possess
Despite all this, I find strange comfort
Coz nature helps
Just being there to bless and caress
