The class had erupted after the teacher spoke about picking a class rep. A boy with blue hair and glasses stood up from his seat. Bakugou had lunged out of his chair and waved his hand like a little kid. People had been screaming but now everything seemed to have calmed down. You sighed, grateful for it as your fingers relaxed around the sides of your desk.
"So who are you voting for?" The whisper was just barely audible but you managed to catch it.
You turned to the girl beside you and flinched back a bit when you saw how close she was. But she was actually kind of cute. She had short brown hair that curled in towards her chin a few inches below her jaw. She had a round face with pink highlighting her cheeks. Now that you thought about it, she kind of reminded you of Izuku. Wide-eyed, squishy and average looking. But there was a nervous look to her eyes that the green-haired boy wouldn't often have with you.
Oh, she's scared of you. You almost instinctively held up your hands to look at them.
"Oh um-... I-I'm not sure." You responded simply, swallowing down your nerves for like the third time today. "But like the frog girl said, I don't really know what to think of anybod-"
"You know Deku-kun right?"
You blinked, turning back to her. She called him that? You almost frowned. Midoriya never seemed fond of that name and often thought of it as an insult from Bakugou. And she didn't even look that bad. You tilted your head at her. She didn't appear like the type of girl to make fun of someone.
"Well.. yeah.. but you.. you call him that?" You asked, raising an eyebrow.
The brunette paused before she began to sporadically wave her hands in front of her, shaking her head as she uttered, "no, no, no, I don't mean it in the way Bakugou does!" She whispered quickly, sending a cautious glance in the blonde's direction. But he appeared to be occupied with voting for himself.
"He's my friend!" She chirped but despite the grin, you could still tell she was a bit jittery. "And I heard you were his friend too, so I just wanted to-"
"You want to be friends with me?"
Whatever was about to come out of her mouth hesitated as she stared with her round brown eyes. "Well I-"
You smiled and gently patted her wrist, leaning to the side to get into closer proximity with her. "It's fine. We can be friends if you want." She flinched but you only grinned, your expression playful for her sake. "What's your name?"
"O-Ochako Uraraka."
Bingo.
You had spent most of class time talking with Ochako. She was a little awkward as if she was unsure of what to say. Whenever you brought up Midoriya, she got really excited and explained to me how training had gone. When it was time to leave however, the main focus of your conversation came up to you, trembling and almost in tears.
"Y/N, I can't be class rep!" He whispered squeakily as everybody filed out of the classroom. His shoulders were shaking. Poor kid looked like a cat freshly out of the bathrub.
You chuckled softly as Ochako praised him. "At least Bakugou didn't get picked." You pointed out, playfully nudging his shoulder with your own. "But let's be honest what were they even thinking?" He blinked, still looking mortified. "I mean, from what Ochako's been telling me , you've been breaking bones left and right."
He detected the decline of playfulness in your voice, closing his eyes at the growing sharpness it had been exchanged for. "Okay, okay. I know I should've told you-"|
"Damn right you should've told me!" You whisper-yelled at him, gesturing aggressively at him. "What would your mother say?"
The tears nestled in the corners of his eyes were threatening to fall. "Don't you dare tell my mother Kuroki." He hissed back, but from the tremble of his clenched fists, he felt just as guilty.
You tilted your head at him before sighing. Sheepishly, you let the serious expression fall from your face, immediately feeling bad. "You grand idiot." You gently ruffled his hair, lifting your other hand to wipe his tears. "You're gonna be okay Izuku." You promised, letting him sit in your chair.
.... They seem to be really close. I could feel the ball of nerves in my stomach pushing against my esophagus. But I knew they were only friends. They seemed to act like friends as well.. not like possible love interests.. Right? I watched as they interacted... No, no, they didn't appear to consider each other like that. Midoriya surely would've been more jittery in her presence.
"She's really nice to talk to even if she is kind of motherly sometimes."
Deku had claimed, seeming overjoyed to have one of his friends come to the school. Well, when compared to Bakugou, she did seem like a major upgrade. Plus, she didn't call me roundface so that's a plus!
"She's playful and listens even though she's kind of blank at first. But I have no doubt that she'll like you. She's attracted to nice kids and the only reason she sticks around Bakugou is because she like's to mess with him.. at least, she used to."
There was a small twinkle to her eyes as she spoke to Midoriya. She was smiling and chuckling softly, her emotions more subdued than the green-haired boy but enough to let us in on the fact that she didn't hate us. She appeared.. happy, no ulterior motives visible in her words. Plus, they did seem pretty comfortable with eachother.
I sucked in a small breath. Remember Uraraka, she had been in the hospital for almost two months. Without her friends and probably without much company if it was serious enough for two months. She's only 15.. She's your age Uraraka, calm down.
I turned back to the girl as she tucked a strand of hair behind her ears. Crap, she's staring at m-!
"Come on Ochako!" (Y/N) chirped, gesturing to follow after her. "Izuku-kun is showing me to the cafeteria!"
Then her stomach growled. (Y/N) blinked before placing both hands over her stomach, her face flushing red.
I giggled and nodded, following after her as she skipped excitedly. Izuku chuckled and waited for us to catch up with him before we continued down to the cafeteria.
