those rainy skies

when i was little
i always felt so much closer
to the sky
that's why i loved the rain so much

a faint clap of thunder
cloudy skies
maybe the rain will come
if so, will you stay here with me?

a faint clap of thunder
even if the rain comes not
i will stay here
together with you

as i grew older
i learned to fear thunder
the sounds of loud booming
late in the night or early in the morning

sometimes late in the afternoon as well
the start of the new spring season
brought so many storms
and with those storms brought the downpour of life

as i grew older i learned to appreciate
the rain of life and the cool warmth of spring
those rainy skies often brought peace
inside my head, and inside my heart

as i woke up one morning, i realized
i was praying for rain
on sunny days, it felt like i was
in a terrible, childish place

and full of impatience.
the normal world is one of jobs and companies
so very far away from mine
rain seems to represent the secrets of our world

there are two things i can say for sure
that at twelve years old, i was just a kid to the sky
and that i would never be the same kid i once was

but those rainy skies show change
and they show the chance of newcomings
they show the bright future of living things
they show beautiful new forms of life

as i continue to grow
like a flower in full bloom
i begin to stop fearing thunder
and i begin to stop fearing change

as the spring begins
i will learn to give life a chance
and as the rain washes away my childhood
i'll sit back and let it go

as those rainy skies wash away our sorrows
i'll learn to let you go
as the rain washed away your pain
i had to learn how to live
