Chapter 2

♡ Alyssa's POV ♡

Luke leaned down placing his arms on the window sill of my car, his baby blue eyes dazzling in the light, and he smiled showing off his award-winning smile. "What am I supposed to do without you for a week?" he said.

"Oh, the tragedy! I'm sure you'll live baby", I laughed and pecked him on the lips.

"I wish I could come with you..." he stated, and all the joy from his eyes vanished, while sadness took over.

"It's okay a week, Luke. You're going to come for the wedding anyway", I replied.

He sighed and then chuckled, "I know. I sound so obsessive. Go now, or I might have to make you stay!"

"Okay, okay! I love you."

"Love you too babe, call me when you get there."

And then I set out for a three hour drive from London back to Homes Chapel after 2 years. I couldn't describe the amount of emotions that were going through me at once. I was excited to go back but then again, I felt like I shouldn't be at the same time. I knew I couldn't keep running away, but something held me back. My mind played a whole bunch of scenarios if I ran into him. How would he react? What would I say? How could I explain my random broken connections from almost everyone that was close to me? Only time could tell.

After finally seeing the Homes Chapel board before entering the village, my nerves took over and my hands became clammy. 'This was a mistake' I thought, 'I should just turn back.' Suddenly my phone rang and I had a Bluetooth in my ear already, and I clicked the 'accept' button.

"Hello?" I answered.

"Hey Aly! I'm so excited to see you! Are you almost here?" Shailene's voice rang in my ear. I swallowed the lump in my throat as guilt took over me. This was my cousin's wedding and I can't bail on her now just a week before her happiest day. I removed all thoughts of turning back from my head and smiled to myself.

"As am I! Yes, going to be at Nana's in about 10 minutes."

"Yaaaay! Okay, freshen up when you get there and I'll come by later and we'll go out", she exclaimed. I agreed and continued driving after shutting the phone. Ten minutes later, I'd parked outside my Nana's house. I'd called her a couple days before to tell her I was coming for the wedding. She came to mum's funeral and that's when I'd spoken to her after so long. I knew my mother kept in contact with her, but I barely even spoke to her. Nana was always close to the Styles' family, she was the one who introduced our families when she'd met Harry's grandma when we were young. And for some reason, I just knew that something would slip out of her mouth about how she used to love the relationship we had together. She'd always say she could see us getting married and that obviously was never going to happen and I didn't have any distress about it, I was happy with Luke and I could see a future with him.

I got out and opened the boot of the car. Before I could even take my luggage from it, I heard the front door of the house fly open.

"Oh, Alyssa sweetheart! You're here," came the voice of my old Nana that could make me smile through anything. I loved her just as much as I loved my mother, and she was probably the closest thing to her after me. I looked away from the trunk and faced my turned towards her walking hastily down from the house. I walked towards her and she took me in her arms and gave me a tight hug. She smelt just like my mother. I hadn't realized that my eyes started to water until a tear managed to escape my eyes.
