The Penguin That Got Away...

Jake opened his door and continued outwards. Last night him and the Geico Lizard had gone out to attempt and meet potential suitors.

Jake sighed. He thought that maybe he would've been the one. The one to move his heart on from Cockroach. Jake slipped on his khakis and continued to the kitchen. He poured himself a quick bowl of cereal and sat there, unwilling to eat.

He thought her should maybe call the Geico Lizard, but he didn't want to interrupt him. The Geico Lizard had helped him so much. He stayed with him when he didn't believe in himself, and found a way to brighten up Jake's day. He turned away from his phone and picked up his overdue work.

Jake was too heartbroken to even consider work. He was passionate about insurance, but found it impossible to focus on anything but Cockroach, and now, Pablo.

Sweet Pablo. A penguin with a plan. Jake had seen him at the bar last night, sitting alone while grazing his finger along the top of his glass. Pablo would glance over at him, but turn away quickly when Jake would return the gesture. Throughout the night, their faces got hotter, along with their yearning for each other. Finally, Pablo sauntered towards Jake; two drinks in hand. He sat down beside him and pushed the drink forward with a gentle touch of his fingers.

Jake shed a tear at the thought, he couldn't bear to think of him one moment more. When he looked into Pablo's eyes there was something there. Something that hadn't been there with cockroach.

Cockroach.

He winced at the thought of him. Would cockroach approve of him? Did he want Jake to find love again?

Cockroach should be happy for him. The love they shared together wouldn't be matched but he still longed for a chance at another experience. He wished that experience would've been with Pablo.

Remembering back to that night, Jake remembered the words that made him break. The thing that shattered him, made him wish he had cradled the time he had in the past.

Pablo had squashed cockroach; and Jake couldn't believe it.

The fury in Jake's eyes when Pablo had told him that. He couldn't believe he had fallen for such a man. A man who boasted taking the life of the one he loved. Jake furrowed his eyebrows and turned away from Pablo.

"Jake?" Pablo had Said, "Please tell me what I did?"

"You killed Cockroach. The love of my life." Jake fumed. "Leave. Now. and never come back here or to me."

Pablo squinted from the tears building up and he turned away closing the door with a point.

Jake sighed at the thought of everything. Now, this morning, he could see who Pablo truly was. A fool who wanted to use Jake. Use Jake for his own personal desire.

But there was someone who didn't. Someone who had been there, someone who had cared about his sorrows.

The Geico Lizard. The Lizard who gave him a purpose, a drive, and now; maybe another chance at love.
