Silence, but not the peaceful kind, the kind that crawls over your skin with it's ominous presence. That's all that could be felt by the six friends as they sat transfixed on the crumpled form once full of life in the hospital bed. The sound of the heart monitor with its steady beep and the ventilator whirring was a taunting melody for the boys, reminding them that their loved one was currently balancing on the edge of life. The odd sniffle and sigh from the six pale faces where the only signs of life hanging in the thickness of the sterile room as they continued to watch for any signs of responsiveness from their friend.
It had been 3 days since the attack, Jimin had been rushed straight into theatre on arrival to Seoul General Hospital. The Doctors would only give information to next of kin, but they had said that Jimin had suffered extensive internal bleeding and was lucky to be alive. He had been placed into an induced coma to enable his body to heal, but the outcome would be uncertain until he was awake enough to run tests on.
Jungkook hadn't left his boyfriends side, hadn't eaten and could barely sleep. The red rings around his eyes from the river of tears he had shed stood vibrant against his sallow complexion, the bags of sleep deprivation had aged him 10 years. He wouldn't leave the hospital room, despite his friends concerns and offers to take shifts so that he could rest, so they brought him clothes, tried to temp him with food and offered him comfort.
So much had happened whilst Jimin was in a coma, Jungkook had been visited by Jeongyeon's father, Mr Yoo who had explained what had been found on Jimin's phone, showing the attacker and naming his father as the instigator. Mr Yoo had paid for Jimin's treatment and private aftercare as a means to apologise for his daughters part, and his unwitting role in this tragic sequence of events. To say he had been ashamed of Jeongyeon was an understatement when he'd learned of her manipulation towards him and the reasons behind it. Jeongyeon had been so overcome with guilt at what she had caused, that she told her father everything. Mr Yoo had lost his precious daughter that night, he realised that she was not the person she portrayed and arranged for her to attend boarding school in England, she would no longer be a threat to Jimin and Jungkook, she was no longer his concern.
Jungkook learned through Mr Yoo that his father had been arrested for his part in the attempted murder and that his fathers company was now under investigation for fraud after the police had discovered shady deals buried deep in his computer files. His heart had broken for the sad boy before him, who deserved none of this, all he had done was fall in love with another boy. He'd wished he'd been blessed with a son as kind and gentle as Jungkook and promised he would do everything in his power to ensure that justice was done. He also managed to contact Jimin's parents and had them flown in, making sure they had accommodation which he paid for and giving them the full story before they saw their son
Mr and Mrs Park had been devastated on arrival to the hospital on the second day. They had been met at the airport by Mr Yoo who had explained everything, including the shame of his daughters betrayal and the fact that their son was going to tell them that night that he was gay. He cushioned the blow for Jungkook as much as he could as he couldn't anticipate their reactions when they would meet the boy, but his overwhelming sense of guilt wanted to protect the young lovers from any further heartache.
When the Parks had arrived at the hospital they had sobbed at the site of their precious boy hooked upto medical devices as the doctor explained the extent of his injuries. There was significant swelling to the brain from the blunt force trauma to the frontal lobe, and until the swelling had gone down they couldn't be sure if there had been bleeding in the brain which may need to be operated on. He had broken ribs and had suffered a ruptured spleen which they had operated on without consent due to the fact that he would have died if they had waited for his parents.
