The Soviet Union attempted to take back Kharkov back from the Third Reich. At first, the Red Army recaptured it(16 Februar 1943) since the German troops abandoned it. Then Field Marshal Erich von Manstein(Third Reich) plotted a counterattack and defeated the Red Army.
