Being one of the most famous creatures in Greco literature and mythology, the hydra is a serpent said to have multiple heads and is a guardian to the entrance of the underworld. Known as the Lernaean hydra, it resided in lake Amymone of southern Argolis which provided the beast protection when ever it slept. As for its eating habits it would travel to local villages and towns when ever it became hungry. Like a snake it contained a highly toxic poison that can kill any human being. A hunter could of course cut of its head, but that will not stop it, for two will grow back in that severed heads' place. How ever this process can be removed for good if the stumps of the neck are cauterized or if the heads are burnt whilst they are still attached to its neck. The only being ever to face to the hydra and succeed was Heracles who had stepped in to slay the beast after hearing of its rampage in Lerna.
