Chapter 4

Running into the woods, I couldn't help but notice how dark everything was. The further I ran, the less of the lights shone from back at the party. "Tyler!" I yelled. I kept calling out for Tyler until I just stopped. Clearly, if Tyler is mad at me he wouldn't call back. "Fuck!" I yelled as I punched a tree near me. Suddenly, I heard a weird screeching noise along with two people arguing. I walked closer to the noise, making sure to take small steps to the sounds since it was dim around me.

"How could you?! She's still just getting used to the environment. She shouldn't have been here. Of all the places you bring here to a demon banquet!"

I could tell immediately, I knew that voice was Tylers and obviously the 'She' was me. But what the heck is a demon banquet? I noticed a tree that was closer and ran stealthily towards it. Tyler nor the voice noticed.

"She's not going to know. Besides, our job is to keep an eye on her. Our job is to also clear any pests that may try to weasel in here." the female voice said. Tyler threw his arms in the air before brushing them through his head in frustration," So you thought while I keep an eye on her here, you could also get the rest of the gang to go play cat and mouse. You keep forgetting one detail..." "You mean the mouse getting to the cheese? If it happens then we'll have no choice. She'll lose her memories once more and since it will be your fault as her caregiver to have prevented such a thing, you'll be replaced with another-" "This plan was yours! You bringing her here?! Your Fault!" The woman walked towards Tyler and placed her hand on his face," Calm down. Didn't you say you didn't like being here? Don't you miss your old life?"

I backed away in terror, " What the-" I was suddenly grabbed by the shoulders and I saw it was the guy from the party earlier. He placed a finger on his lips before tilting his head towards the opposite way. I nodded agreeing that we should have left. We ran as fast and as silent as we could back to the party. Once we were a safe distance from Tyler and the mysterious lady, we both stopped to catch our breath," Who the heck are you?! And please say I wasn't the only one who heard that." The guy shook his head," No...I heard everything too. My name is Alise. You have to be Lily then?" I nodded still a bit wary of this guy," Why have you been looking for me?" "I can't say...you haven't awakened yet." "What's awakened and what the heck is a demon banquet?" " A demon banquet is a monthly gathering where the demons in this world feast on the souls here. But since they know my team is here, it explains why they threw one out of nowhere this month. It's all a trap. They knew we would come here to look for you. Here." The Alise handed me a crumpled piece of paper," This is how you can reach us. Don't give it to anyone. Especially not your little boy toy back there." With that, Alise ran off into another direction of the woods.

"Wait a minute...What does Awakened mean?" I muttered as I walked back to the party. "Lily! Where have you been?!" Pately said as she rushed towards me and gave me a big hug. I just shrugged," I wanted to get some fresh air...I don't think I can take this much of the party. Have you seen Tyler? I noticed he ran off somewhere but I didn't want to bother him since you know the freakout I had..." Pately nodded in sympathy," Yeah I get it. But I haven't seen him at all...Hey! If you want, we can go to my house. My mom would definitely be okay. Dad is also out for a business conference so we can have a girl's day tomorrow too!" I shook my head," That sounds fun but I'm kind of tired and think I should just go home." Pately frowned," You'll still come over this weekend though right?" I nodded," Of course!" Pately beamed once more. Alise ran towards the escape route. He had already sent the message back when the guy and women were describing their master plan about the trap. Alise shook his head, "So much for competent villains" At the exit gate, the team was already waiting. Serg walked over to Alise," What's the plan now?" Alise was already disappointed about the situation but he couldn't let that affect his team," Now we leave. I bring us up to details once we get to Homebase." As Alise walked by Serg, she couldn't help but feel confused," What do you mean Homebase? We're not going to stay here in this world? What about the girl?! Shouldn't we bring her?!" Alise shook his head," Not yet. Now. Let's go." Serg looked back at Casey who just shrugged while brushing her blonde hair out of her face. Serg gave up as the rest of the team left.
