I trailed my eyes from his shoes up to his face where he had a satisfied look.

"Ms.Hill" his voice came out low as he addressed me.

My face had to be so pale at this point.
How did he know!?! HOW does he ALWAYS KNOW.

I watched him continue on to the front of the class and pull out the large office chair behind the desk. He sat down then fluffed his suit and adjusted his tie. He looked at me with his dark eyes and hooded brows.

"Detention has begun"

My anxiety levels had gone from 0% to a good 200%.  I looked down at my hands on the desk and fidgeted as many thoughts clouded my mind. How...why..why did this have to happen to me..TODAY of all days.

THIS couldn't get any worse.

I sat running many scenarios in my head on how this could down. He wouldn't be mad that I lied would he? I mean, it's not even any of his business to know what i'm doing after school! Oh god... He's going to be furious... I should have just told him the truth then I wouldn't be in this mess.

My leg began to wiggly up and down when the stress from the situation overwhelmed me. The room was silent and no one seemed to be doing anything that would change that. Mr.Gardner sat flipping through pages of a book like nothing was bothering him, and the other student sat with his head laid flat on his desk. Thankfully for me the time seemed to zip by. Three minutes turned to ten, then twenty turned to forty. Not a word had been spoken and I still sat dreading anything that would happen after we're dismissed. Finally a shift in the silence had both Mr.Cunningham's and I's attention. Mr.Gardner dropped his book on his desk and took off his glasses. He made no effort to look at me and only avert his attention to the other student.

"Thank You for you attendance Mr. Cunningham. You are free to go" I watched the student grumble something and stand up lazily from his seat. Finally.

As the previous student had done, I got up from my seat to exit detention. Mr.Gardner's stare burning holes in the back of my head.

"And where do you think you're going Ms.Hill?"

I froze mid sentence like I knew this would happen. Not like I hadn't predicted this-

I spun around to face him to see he sat flipping the pages of the same book he had before. No interest in me whatsoever.

"Detentions over so I thought i'd go home...am I not allowed to go home?" The tint of sarcasm had me doubting if I had even spoken at all.

His eyes lifted from the book and landed on mine. It was unexpected but I managed to stare back.

"I don't remember dismissing you, that is unless you go by 'Mr.Cunningham', otherwise, you can sit back down and continue your detention." His stab back of sarcasm made me stand there dumbfounded. What a cocky asshole. I am not about to sit here any longer than I have already.

"Ms.Drew had me down for 45 mins..." I stopped mid-sentence to look at my phone screen "and it has been 46 minutes so... i'm heading home." I tried to smoothly get out of this one but he wasn't having it. A small cocky smirk appeared on his face as he knew what I was trying to do. He then picked up his glasses and placed them back on his face to keep reading the book.

"Ms.Drew gave you 45 minutes, Ion the other hand, have given you an hour added on to that- since you don't seem to respect the time given for finishing important class projects"
